Moneycontrol portfolio

I plan to use moneycontrol portfolio to track my equities. When I attempted to add a buy transaction I noticed the following comment

* Please ensure the brokerages and STT have been added to your purchase price


I understand the reason for adding brokerage to purchase price but I don't understand the reason why they are asking to add STT. Can someone explain?

When you buy shares STT is also added to the final purchase price.

Generally when we transact securities brokers will charge STT (security transaction tax) and other taxes like edu.cess etc.

Please refer to contract note sent by your broker. Or else you can see model contract note any broker's website.
