Sumit,

You are posting questions about lot of SW's ?
What are you looking for ?

Matlabs is a quant sw.
It's not a simple charting sw.
You can do what ever you want.
It provides with API's for automation.
Typically quants(PHD,Mathematicians etc etc) who build trading systems for the hedge funds build financial models, risk models, neural networks etc etc.

One requires C,c++ programming skills to do the same.
If it is a required for a simple trader - no.
Cost - 150 bucks cracked version.
will take more time to learn.

MATLAB is one of the popular statistical computations library. It is meant for programmers's use. For general purpose, there is also GNUPlot which provides some subset of MATLAB with graph capability and there is also a library/application named R which has a trading oriented subset

MATLAB/GNUPlot are relatively easy. R was hard to understand at least at first attempt.

Recently came to know that matlabs is used for drawing statistical inference in trading also.

Another software R is also used.

Experts please provide more info on this
