Astrology is often considered as an occult science, and even though lot of attention is given to Astrologers & their predictions, few actually stand true to fact. This, combined with the philosophical nature of the predictions - and sometimes the subject itself - creates confusion in everyone’s mind. It makes them doubt and sometimes reach a conclusion that Astrology simply doesn’t work. At the same time, astrologers justify various reasons why a particular prediction did not work, using some cosmic, philosophical grounds – only adding further mystery to the occult status of the subject. It should not come as a surprise that the educated rarely venture into astrology.

Little piece of History

History shows us that one can only see farther by standing on the shoulders of his predecessor who was a giant himself in his time. Nevertheless, one must have the depth and the courage to clarify what his predecessors could not view and explain it in simple but scientific terms. Challenging the established not only requires this depth and courage but also needs proof of any newfound theories. The science of “Physics” is a notable example here. It has progressed extremely well in past 150 years on account of the eager and curious inventors who could take up the job to add value by standing on shoulders of their predecessors. In astrology, however, this scientific approach is an uncommon quality. Very few researchers in astrological studies actually challenge the established and are seldom taken seriously. This, combined with the general mysticism developed by some “pretenders” has impacted the progress of the science adversely. One can observe that while astronomy has literally skyrockets in past 400 years – astrology still lags behind, unable to open doors to scientific advancements.

To the trading room – “just what is Market Astrology?”

Financial markets are volatile at best and seemingly unpredictable to the least. Getting the desired predictability by applying the standard ways of any method to the market is not just difficult; it can also get complicated to a point where the very usability of the method is surrendered. For instance, studies show that by applying existing methods of Price based Analysis to the market, one cannot outperform the “Buy and hold index” over a long run. The advocates of such methods argue that the subjects involve creative abilities using which one can successfully predict the markets. Be that as it may, any method that uses strict demand-supply dynamics for forecasting future prices is essentially a study of past performance and considers only demand-supply data as a valid measure of market profile. This is not to argue that they “don’t work”, it’s just to highlight that they are not truly predictive by their very nature and do not qualify as applied science.

This is where Astrology differs from the other existing price based methods. It uses astronomical data of utmost accuracy and price movements are only data points to determine what has happened in past to determine the reoccurrence of movements or their similarities. On this note, Market Astrology can be simply defined as

“A study of market movements to find repetition or vibration of price movements upon reoccurrence of an astronomical phenomenon”

There are various ways to follow astrological principles to forecast market movements. For example, you can simply consider 21st March equinox as a reference date to find market traend and you will get the general direction of the market. You can also try complex combinations of planetary aspects based on Fractal Geometry and get the minor price and time points. Astrological studies can be extremely simple or complex, depending on the desired result of such research.

Who should study Market Astrology

It is not necessary to study something only if one believes it. Most people, like the founders of “marketastrology.net” did not “believe” that astrology works and had to work the other way round, first studying the principals and later on believing that they work after checking their effect. If one has an open mind to new ideas and is willing to do significant hard work, this is one’s subject. Market Astrology, like any form of astrology, requires strong understanding of the astronomical principals and some basic knowledge of mathematics.

One can only learn so much about something in one lifetime, astrology is no exception. It is a learning curve and it takes time to get from one level of understanding to another, so the whole endeavor of market astrology is to be done only by those with patience.

Trails to follow

There isn’t a single answer to this question either. There are many beliefs in pursing astrological studies related to market. To start, one must understand the basic principles of astronomy and astrology very clearly (note that the two are different) e.g. the ecliptic and the zodiac, heliocentricism & geocentricism, general information about planets and their orbits. While these and related concepts are considered as the foundation before one commits to any original research, it is also advised to avoid reading of any philosophical meanings of the planets, the signs or any other astronomical concept. Opinions, ones formed, are held so obstinately that it becomes difficult to wipe the unnecessary ideas later on. Rememeber that the shapes of animals and mythical gods' names given to stars are merely ways to remember the zodiac (especially when there were no computers to store so much of data) - True Astrology is as precise as a space shuttle launch sequence, do not let the philosophical advocation of astrology confuse you with imaginary grounds to a very realistic & scentific subject.

As mentioned before, we must follow trails of predecessors & must completely understand about their work on the subject. When it comes to the established names in market astrology, two names stand out – Sir W.D. Gann & Sir George Bayer. Forecasts from both are documented and are found to be extremely accurate, at times surprising events have occurred in favor of their forecasts. It is advised to learn all one can about these two masters preferably by reading from their own writings. This will help to avoid reinventing the wheel and guide towards a fundamentally strong path. These people believed what they taught and used the methods in their trading and forecasting activity, they were market traders and even a novice trader can start reading their work and understand what is said with little effort.

Then again, experience is the best teacher –continuous experiment with astronomical data will help to progress in market astrology. It is also advised to learn the brief history of astrology as a science and read writings of the ancient masters like Aristotle, Plato & Plutarch. After all what Bible says applies to market as well as market astrology:

“what has been is what shall be, what has been done is what will be done and there is nothing new under the Sun”.

Masters of Market Astrology

Financial Markets are a young enterprise of mankind. The roots of speculation or trading activity go deep in history it is only in the 19th Century that the idea of a "marketplace" for companies was forged with the surge in World's economy. Many curious minds were attracted to Astrology as it is a known science to man since ancient times and while most of these curious minds failed to make sense out of it (and still do), there have been some masters who succeded in..shall we say.. finding the "holy grail". Two names deserve particular interest as masters in market astrology - Sir W.D. Gann & Sir George Bayer.

Both these names stand tall in the areas of market research and their uncanny abilities to forecast market movements. The name of Sir W.D. Gann is rather more famous and has recieved far more limelight than that of Sir George Bayer. This article does not venture into comparing the two as we believe that even though both hand fundamental ground of astrological studies, both thse giants kept slightly different view towards the market and research in general. We shall simply take a look at their methods, a bit of personal and trading history along with interpretation of their methods according to our ideas.

W.D. Gann
William Delbert Gann was born June 6, 1878 in Lufkin, Texas and his father was a cotton farmer of limited means. Gann started trading in 1902 when he was 24 and after several attempts at trading success (it is believed that he practically went bankrupt for almost 6 times) he finally rose to becoming a millionaire by trading in cotton, wheat and other financial instruments. Opponents claim that Gann never actually made money by trading activity, yet there is documented proof such as his famous Ticker Interview & other available sources. However, there is no divided opinion over the fact that his forecasts were extremely accurate and he succeeded in predicting the 1929 great depression as well the market bottom which followed.

Gann wrote several books, most of them bestsellers on the wall street and are still referred by many market researchers. His most famous book, " The Tunnel Through the Air" is said to contain his most famous and succesful predictions such as the second world war and the market crash of 1929. His other writings include "Truth of Stock Tape", and many other small courses which he was said to offer at a very high price which went as high as 4000 USD in 1920s, something that makes the present day market course provideres appear very small indeed.

He is well known for his Squares of Nine, Tweleve and The Spiral Chart - something that he claimed could measure anything from time, price to space (?). He is best known for his geometrical angles, known today as "Gann Angles" and has become basis of many market prediction software and methods. There is little evidence that he used astrology as the basis of his forecasting and trading methods - something that he kept referring to as the "Natural Law". There have been many contradictions to his methods, such as the scale problem with his angles or his squrares as Gann never revealed his methods completely and chose very carefully what he published in his forecasts and even in his market course, therefore most of his work remain as mysterious today as it was 80 years ago. However, we believe as we have strong proof to believe, that he used astrological cycles as the basis of everything he predicted or traded. A simple Google search will introduce one to many ideas of him and interestingly enough, many industry traps that complicate his work into some super-advanced software, while we believe that the man who didn't even have the luxury of a calculator must have used something extremely simple ( not easy) at the base of everything. He was a believer in hard work and was practically a living proof of it. He claimed that "Bible" is the greatest book ever written and holds all the secrets of natural law that one needs apply to make success in business of speculation.

George Bayer

On the note of "Bible" being the greatest book, we meet another master of market astrology - George Bayer - birth and death unknown and all we know about him is that he lived in Carmel, California in the same time-period as W.D. Gann. However, unlike Gann, he did not recieve the same limelight partly due to his straightforward writing style that opposed everything else but use of astrology for market operations, and partly becuase his preferences were entirely different from materialistic gains from selling courses or trading. While his forecasts are extremely accurate (even in the very short term), we find little proof that he actually traded them.

His writings however, survived and are available on Amazon.com for purchase. His advanced methods require hardcore understanding of astrological and astronomical principals, something that he has himself explained in his courses. His "Five Fold Horoscope" is a cornerstone of "marketastrology.net". Hiis approach to the subject of astrology was an extremely scientific one and like Gann, he clearly states that "Bible" is the greatest book written ever and is nothing more than an astrological book, something that could have created only further contraversy in his time.

Apart from the five fold horoscope, his methods include usage of Planetary Aspects, Transits & even modern astronomical concepts such as Speed, Latitude & Distance. It may appear contradictory that he claimed about ancient masters knowing everything about astrology and yet it is matter of fact that ancients did not have the scientific instruments we have today to measure those advanced parameters, Bayer himself claims that the understanding of planetary cycles requires no advanced parameters but hard work and years of research into the laws laid in Bible. He spent most of his life as a researcher, perhaps a reason why he never took interest in rising to fame as market astrologer or trader.

No matter how descriptive and long this has been, know that it is just the tip of these giant icebergs of market astrology.

Very nice... you can become an analyst without knowing fundamentals or technicals.
What does Astronomy got to do with stock market ? Think yourself & Dont kill the logic in you thought....
You said it right bro, if astrology was science, many scientists wud work on it, and do reasearch, so they can predict natural disasters, now world's best disaster monitoring system can only predict 10 seconds before the earthquake hit.

I am not saying against astrology.
There are many things beyond our knowledge, doesn't mean they dont exist.
But using those things for what ever we what is wrong.

This is about astrology on stock market. If astrology works, it should work on human fate not on human creations.

Can asrology predict on a Robo created by a man. Will that robo have birth chart and houses.

I hear stuff like today moon or etc is in that position so market will move up from 11.30 onwards. what a rubbish....

It could be correct that sun and moon can influence human emotions and yes there are scientific reasons for that. But why will moon effect the stock market ??

Problem with using astrology in trading is not if we like it or no but the problem is we dont know if anyone is making profit on it, and if is making it profit and shares the system I would surely use it as my intention is making money.
