Just for timepassing

Hi DSM

The thread is really: Time passing. So subjects are open, but should be on a certain level. Music, film, cars, entertainment, cloths, losing weight or what so ever entertaining in any way, but no politics or any religion topics in any way.

I also request people to not post about problems which occur in the forum or about any problem in any thread. This is definitely NO SUBJECT of this time passing thread and will be kindly deleted from this thread when tried. Thank you. :) Just easy topics here as there are so many other threads around which do all the rest of topics. Also post only in English, as not all members are from India in this forum like me.

Further comments on your post:

If you drive on a highway with three lines on each direction, the risk could be a bit lower compare to what your friend did (Maybe). Even sitting in a car is a better protection compare to just sit on a bike, and I was a biker for years, no matter if summer or winter time :). (Was one of those hard bikers, never cared about the weather and still never had an accident ;) )

At that night I went from Stuttgart to Berlin with the Porsche Carrera 911 S, there was a lot of traffic. The next day I went back from Berlin to Munich, there was more or less no traffic in the morning and the highway was just a free way. And here I did test the car to its limit, as having three lines with more or less no traffic was just the perfect situation you could have for such an experiment. If you have no idea what that means or never ever have been in such a situation, you will not be able to post any comment about it. ;) By the way: That was just one of may experiments I had the chance to make with different cars on a high speed level. (Giving just an other comment on just one topic: Doing a 250 km/h with a Mercedes S Class is just like feeling to be in an air plain because of the sound you feel around you. Doing a 250 km/h and more with a 745 BMW is just like nothing if you do it after you already droved a 2'000 km in the car on different speeds)

I have experienced once an other situation in Austria on the highway when I had a Maserati Cabriolet with 399 hpw and then a biker with a Ducatti showed me that he wants to test his power with the power from the car I used at that time. So we went down to around 150 km/h and then we both did test what our engines could do even from that high level of speed starting. On a short term basis he was faster compare to the MC with his Ducatti bike. That was also a special experience I never will forget.

As you may see or slowly can recognize: I am a bit of a speed freak and I even know how to handle such high speed situations and cars, as I did it regularly in my past. So I know in the mean time what is possible with such high speed cars and I am clear in the mean time when to stop such high speeds drives, as I have seen and experienced the limits to its absolute limits and danger and thanks god I still live. Could also tell you here some stories which would may make you look a bit puzzled after you heard them. Any way: I could further go on how a BMW Z8 is doing races with Bikes on up hill streets or how BMW 5 do on such streets and other cars, but this are other story. :D

Just a few cars I did drive in my past and to each one I could tell a special story :) which will not be forgotten from my side. Doing a 250 km/h is just normal to do with them on highways in Germany. So nothing special about that. Here we go: BMW Z8, Z4, M4 and other BMW models, Mercedes S and other models from Mercedes, Jaguar XL turbo and other models of Jaguar, Audi A8 and other Audi models, VW different models, Subaru, Peugeot and Renault models, but until now no Lamborghini, no Aston Martin and no Mercedes AMG  :). So I still have some targets in front of me :D

Take care / Dan :)

Hi

I guess you can not drive to fast in your place, like you can do over here in Europe, specially in Germany. The fastest I ever did experience in my live was 295 km/h with a Porsche 911 Carrera S on a highway in Germany. Those 295 km/h have been the fasted I could get out of that car and that was just: WOW.

But not good enough to be the fastest that night on the highway. On the highway I was passed from a convoy of five Porsche 911 GT3 which even made on top 315 km/h. So I tried to follow them with my slow car at that time.

Since then I am a bit more interested in Cars. Here one of the new Cars from that house: The new 911 Carrera 4 GTS and the the 911 Carrera GTS: http://www.porsche.com/microsite/ipad/assets/downloads/kataloge/en/911_GTS.pdf And here an overview about what they offer even here in Europe: http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/
Speed thrills but kills.....before marry my avg speed was....80km/h.......Now I reduced it to 40km/h.....life is looks precious when you got married.....

Dear friend OMSAI

What if your girlfriend or even wife is asking for such a high speed or sports car? :D;) Those cars are very safe as long as you drive them safe. That is the point. In trading you do not risk what ever when you know exactly that your risk is to high, even you are maybe a favorite of risk taker. The same with such cars. You go to the limit with them when you see that the road is empty or has less traffic and you behave and stay on a lower speed when traffic is high. As simple as that and as normal as that.

Nice, nice. Noted, no heavy stuff in this thread, just something light and different.

Think if you were not an option trader, you could have been doing something related to cars or bikes.

Had a fall from a bike a few years back (my friend was driving, and I was the pillion) This happened on a clear road, with a bit of turn. As it happened, there was a bit of sand, and the bike went skidding, and both of us fell in the middle of the road. As this happened in an unexpected manner, made me cautious of bikes. Just gave this example to my colleague, who is the bike enthusiast Did my part, reminding him no matter how clear the road is, there can be unknown and unforseen dangers like sand on the road, or worse a bit of oil leak or spill from the car.

And here's one for the weekend :

One of my favorite films ever: Avatar from James Cameron (2009)

When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Here an old, good action movie with Al Pacino: Scarface from Brian del Palma (1983)

Remake of the 1932 film, which follows the rise of Tony Montana, a Cuban emigre who, with his friend Manny Ray, builds a strong criminal empire in early 1980's Miami.
