Human nature of fear-greed-panic never changes. Before entering equity market this time, please follow the check-list >> Do not enter the market if you are not willing to be there for long term. Definition of long term is 10 years. >> Purchase stocks of only those companies whose balance sheet you are going to read. Even if you do not understand accounts, initially begin with reading Chairman’s note, Director’s report etc. Remember, eventual outcome of an individual who uses a gadget without reading the manual and equity investor who does not read balance sheet is same. >> If you have any outstanding loans then pay them first before equity investing. >> The way we do not check our blood pressure and pulse every hour, every day, every week, do not check value of your investment every hour, every day, every week. No companies can rise or fall in an hour, day, week or even month. Evaluating portfolio once a month is good enough. However what needs to be done is to read announcements related to companies and industries.
