At 92, B M Khaitan quits as Eveready chief

The development comes at a time when Eveready is on the lookout for strategic investors, including a possible stake sale in its battery business.
Williamson Magor Group patriarch Brij Mohan Khaitan has resigned as chairman of the group’s flagship company, Eveready Industries India, citing his old age. He is 92.
In a filing with the BSE, Eveready said, “As a mark of respect and in recognition of his significant contributions for over two decades, B M Khaitan has been designated as the chairman emeritus.”
Khaitan, back in 1993, outran the Wadias of Bombay Dyeing to buy Union Carbide India in a $96.5-million deal.
Back then, it was the biggest corporate takeover of that time. Union Carbide eventually shaped up as Eveready Industries India.
The development comes at a time when Eveready is on the lookout for strategic investors, including a possible stake sale in its battery business.
Another group company, McNally Bharat Engineering is also reeling under a debt cycle.
Previously, the senior Khaitan had also resigned from the board of McLeod Russel - the group’s tea plantations arm, which is currently on a spree of selling its tea plantations to pare debt.
At the group level, the total debt from its batteries, engineering and plantations business, is around Rs 4,500 crore.
His rise in the corporate stage to build one of the larger business houses in the country, started with tea, however, rather than batteries.
Initially, Khaitan used to supply tea chests and fertilisers to Williamson Magor & Co - then a tea plantations firm.
In 1961, at a time when B Bajoria, an investor, had acquired nearly 25 per cent stake in Bishnauth Tea Company, the flagship in the Williamson Magor Tea Estates, Khaitan and his family came in as the white horse and provided the requisite money to buy out Bajoria's stake.
Subsequently, he joined the board and later went on to become the managing director of the group.
In 1987, when McLeod Russel decided to sell their tea plantations in India, Khaitan negotiated a deal and bought out their estates.

Few of our great patriots must be very unhappy that their Masood Azar Ji was designated as global terrorist despite China supporting him all this while.It is a huge diplomatic success for the Govt that it was successful in building international opinion on terrorists and singling out countries supporting and actively promoting terrorism.

Dear Superman, I thought of replying you in detail because I have also felt the same sometime in past about this strategy. I agree its difficult to trade ORB alone. Please use it only and only after NARROW RANGE day or INSIDE DAY. Otherwise it gives whipsaws many times. Important thing is that when it works than dont square off it easily. Hold it till max or 3.15. This is the key. If you take profit also too soon than its not useful. Also try to take position in the direction of gap or your analysis direction @ ORB Preference. Stop Loss is must in all startegies whether this or anyone. This startegy’s basic logic is that market contracts than expands. Please check following days charts of banknifty for example 20190301 & 20190305, 20190325 & 20190326, 20180725 & 20180726. In short it works only after narrow range or inside days. And big profits need to be booked.
Open = High is useful with price rejecting some imp levels like after opening at new high and comes back into the previous day zone or something like this. Many scenarios. Hope you are experienced enough to use these hints. We all make mistakes and sometimes just need a small hint or correction in our stragies to make a difference. Best wishes.
EDIT: For OPEN=HIGH perfect example is 20190418. BNFTY SPOT's open was at all time high at 9.07 PREOPEN. Than it opened inside the range of all time high at 9.15. That day it was clear that market was rejecting that level. Hope its useful.
