Good measure, if put into action... when insolvency proceedings are compulsory (almost) to be completed within a year, why does the new management need 3 years to increase public float...

millions of lives will be saved by this. Mosquito's are biggest cause of death. Aim is to reduce the population.

However the males carry a protein that will kill off any female offspring before they reach mature biting age. Males, which only feed on nectar, will survive and pass on the genes.

Over time, the aim is to reduce the population of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the area and thereby reduce the spread of disease to humans
Exactly, most perople dont even bother to read the article or understand, and come out with their age old theory that we should do nothing.. so thus is the state in India.. backward .. and forever developing.. :)

Glad you highlighted a basic sentence which carries a whole lot of meaning..

i don't think that would be a good choice.. genetic alteration may lead to extinction of the species one day, because they may crossbreed and evolve the malfunction, leading to full extinction, which would have detrimental effects on the ecosystem, particularly if the region is dependent on agriculture etc. reducing mosquito population through cleaning etc of the region is okay, but extinction of a species is always an imbalance.

they are pollinators, food for birds and frogs, and many...

This is an extreme situation.. why are you thinking so extreme. The plan could be implemented in cities first. RUral areas and forest can be left for the time being.

In the last few months even coronavirus has evolved to a more infectious strain.

yes, it's true that due to dengue and malaria millions of people are dying world wide. i don't know, i just feel trying genetically altered mosquitoes in India somehow is not right. we can create genetically altered vaccines, but genetically altering a living being and leaving it to the balanced natural habitat to kill its offsprings would have some if not many implications.. if they are willing to sacrifice it, or if they have only impossible other alternatives to control the mosquito population, they can do that... it might be nearly impossible to clean all the natural and man-made drainages in a big city, it's true.

Edit: but i think India should develop genetic medicine manufacturing capability also, there should be rapid-action genetic labs. the lacking of which is the effect what we are seeing now during this Covid time. other countries were able to isolate the strain earlier, if we had that capability, we could have created a vaccine before the current deadline. also i think there should be a coordinated mission by nations to identify and tackle future event on its occurrence anywhere in the world..
