Agree with BPR, sometime back (and every now and then) there is campaign of “swadesi” arguing HUL/Nestle/honda etc take precious forex out of India. When actual biggest culprit is Oil and Gold (in that order).

Chinese products are cheap and one cannot skip importing from them. If mobiles are assembled here, all parts are made in china!

We export cotton to china and import ready made cloths! And if we are banning all product import from them, try telling punjabi’s and delhite to give up Rajama. Yes India imprrs 50% of its rajama from china

That is the reason why Gandhiji took to Charkha. The British used to export cotton to the mills in Manchester and export back the clothes :)

Anyway, local manufacturing needs a booster dose. There won't be a single remedy for that, but boycott to some extent will help.

As for phones, yes Xiomi is a good and cheap brand. A month ago I started using a Redmi 5A. MIUI is good but I am sure that it is spying a lot on my data, probably more than pure Android.

Chinese connection also comes with security implications.

Even our 4G and to some extend 5G equipment are from china so we cannot prevent what china is listening. If we want ban of products, big tkt items like railway etc should be banned first.

Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja has been praised for the way in which she has been leading the state’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The state's earlier encounters with viruses like Nipah and Ebola also seem to have prepared the state to deal with such episodes in a better way, some experts say.

Like Chinese whispers, they hear something and do something what they like.

Nehru in the name of planned economy, laid the foundation of License Raj.
Congress instead of reforming continued to average a losing trade and eventually brought the Govt to near bankruptcy.
America's early 1900s period around depression and WW was highly made in USA centric which in many ways worked for them but it was bcos of capitalistic mindset. Congs applied their on socialistic twist and rest is history.

IMF had to bail them out under conditions of economic liberalisation. They didn't Engineer it. It was a requirement, then they changed/relaxed policies.

One can check the GDP growth from 1980 compared to South Korea, China and see how they galloped.
