Free database and downloader for Indian Stocks

Refer to my last.I was finally able to download from an inside thread in hypertrader.com
Thanks once again.I shall request you to assist me thro this forum in case there is a glitch during setup

I had stopped using (smart downloader) this quite some time ago, so I deleted it form my pc.

In smartdownloader thread ask for all threads to be shown.Then both yahoo and msn versions are available for download.

Neal My question is how do I download consolidated BSE yahoo data that is name and symbol.Adding each symbol would be a mamooth task for over 1000 companies

Go to http://in.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=@^bse500&f=snlcvi for the symbol codes for all the BSE 500 stocks.

You will have to add them in one by one.

I do not know if there is a shortcut to this.

Thanks a lot Neal for your guidance. I had a metastock now for queit some time but could not integrate the downloader with the suitable free database site but after refering to this discussion i could download the data base and can use metastock now. I also congratulate traderji to start such an informative forum who has knowledgable members.

can u check the link again. I am not able to open this page. Is there any other procedure to open this page. If you have downloded all symbols can you forward a file to my email account: [email protected] as i have Ami Broker recently aquired but difficult to find symbols one by one. Your co-operation would be highly appreciated.

The symbol database of all stocks and indices (both BSE & NSE) can be obtained by clicking the components link alongside the indices at http://in.finance.yahoo.com/m7
