Hi,
I'm planning to open a stock trading / DP account for invest-and-hold type of investing (few trades per month)

Could you suggest which one I should go for?

Here's what I found so far:
(approximate amounts)
HDFC: 0.5% delivery based stock trading brokerage
Onetime:Rs700 + 500
Yearly AMC for DP=Rs 500
software: FREE webbased (from demo, it seems a clean interface but may lack powerful features)

RELIgare: 0.5% delivery based stock trading brokerage
Onetime:Rs 600
Yearly AMC for DP=Nothing!!! (is it true?)
software: onetime rs 1800
install their terminal s/w. seems powerful

i already am using geojit's silver platform. it is good, but the web based software is not great. can't even create a watchlist of a few stocks in their silver pkg.
their charges are reasonable.
0.3% brokerage, Rs 250 DP AMC

the new acct. is for my father.

from above, I'm inclined towards RELIGARE, but would like to ask the wisdom of this community.

thanks very much,
sriram

after going through all disscussions i think indiainfoline gives best experience.

1. open account by 555 Rs
2. annual charge - Nil
3. Both online offline facilities available together.
4. online terminal is a good experience.

Even though i am a beginner, I agree with agnihotri2010...eventhough the brokerage is lil bit highier...but gives a best experience and their relationship team is very much cooperative(at least according to my experience)
