Differentiating Smallcap, midcap and so on...

#1
Hi Friends,

Being a newbie, I would like to know how to differentiate if a stock belongs to smallcap or midcap or largecap? What are the factors that determine which category it has to be placed?

What are the most important and important factors to look for when a stock must be purchased?

thanks in advance.
warm regards
Jana

Dear jana05

Senior member please correct me if I am wrong
Companies who have a market cap of over Rs 1,500 crore (Rs 15 billion) are called large cap.
Companies who have a market cap between Rs 25 crore (Rs 250 million) and Rs 1,500 crore (Rs 15 billion) are mid cap. And those who have a market cap less than Rs 25 crore (Rs 250 million) are small cap.
Market cap= number of shares*market value of per share
