Covid fallout: IndiaNivesh shuts down PMS business amid market meltdown

Mumbai: IndiaNivesh Investment Managers has shut down its portfolio management business in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the first casualty of the current market meltdown.

“In view of the current market volatility pursuant to the global outbreak of Covid-19 and its long-term impact on our business, we have decided to close our operation at IndiaNivesh Investment Managers, a Sebi registered portfolio manager,” IndiaNivesh said in a note to investors.

“Thus our sole strategy of Sprout Portfolio will be wound up,” it added. The firm has been in this business since 2015.

IndiaNivesh Investment Managers said consequently all the assets in its custody such as securities and bank balance, among others will be handed over to the clients.

The firm said the client had two options under which it can transfer the clients assets to their designated bank account/demat. This could be either liquidation of all the shares held in the strategy and transfer the proceeds to the clients’ bank accounts.

The other option was to transfer shares to the clients’ demat account and cash/liquid funds to the client’s bank account.

Indian Airlines in Immediate Danger of Insolvency: Industry Body In Letter to Modi
https://thewire.in/economy/indian-a...of-insolvency-industry-body-in-letter-to-modi
Close down these Airlines completely. Most of these airlines are used by crooks and smugglers either unofficially or officially (staff of the airlines), who bypass checking easily.
Moreover, the airlines should follow the rules of capitalism while running its business. E.g. Pay the full price of ATF (Air Turbine Fuel) etc instead of asking for cuts / incentives/ direct purchase etc. (is a poor man supposed to pay for the rich man travel ?)

Moreover, most of these flights are being used for unnecessary travel by rich people who have really nothing to do other than spend time travelling and partying while their employees are toiling night and day !.

(Even after retirement, free flights to the staff and their family are guaranteed) while the airline cannot stand on its own legs.

Close off the airline if it is not viable. It will be good for the economy and people.
(Wherever there is "FREE" involved, I'm suspicious about it, it would be good to close it down.)

On the lockdown front , things could be made better for sure ... I believe this lockdown will have to continue till 30-June-2020 at least.

While most politicians and parties are trying to announce policies and take credit, the situation at ground level is grim.

Most shops that sold basic amenities are still closed ,many have asked their salesmen to leave (that's an un-disputable fact). It is not that shopkeepers didn't have a heart, the shopkeepers were assured that essentials would be allowed, etc.

But as soon as the voluntary "janata curfew" was coming to an end .... you guessed it.. the lockdown date was increased to 14/15 April 2020.

Obviously shopkeepers could not forecast what will come next and till when this extension will go on... so they politely asked their salesmen to take care of themselves and their family. Without money to pay rent, most of the people chose to leave due lack of clarity of whats going to happen next with this lockdown (leave alone hospitalization).

"Basic Kitchen appliances, utensils, water heaters, water purifiers, gas cylinders, etc are still not available." .. at least in Bangalore.

With Cholera, H1N1, H5N1 and COVID-19 doing the rounds, the above kitchen / cooking appliances, gas, etc fall under basic essentials by any standard. This is currently still lacking.

With some party Sevaks along with police officials driving the show, with mostly lack of understanding, will likely paralyse the economy starting 1st April.

Unlike demonitization, I hope this time the backbone of the economy is not broken. Authorities need to act fast and sanely to prevent further damage that is already caused y the virus.
