Looks like a Karnataka type floor test. Last minute pull out.

Dont see how BJP can pull this one through
BJP should prove their majority on the floor of the House ...if Ajit Pawar fails to get the MLAs which he promised in a written letter or if these MLAs have changed their mind and gone back ,then BJP should resign and let the other 3 parties make their Govt and see how long it lasts....Ajit Pawar may still issue a whip and votes of NCP MLAs against that Whip get disqualified. That is why Supreme Court did not order secret ballot....it needs to be decided whether that whip is valid...

If BJP fights the election alone then it has a good chance of getting a majority on its own in Maharashtra.

What's this about the whip ? Was he appointed as the Chief Whip too ? Anyway, with his removal as the party leader in the house, there are a lot of gray areas.

BJP top brass never cares much for state elections or CMs...
They know if they are in power in centre..it will help them a lot...

There are some techical issues and Sharad Pawar cannot remove him unless he follows certain procedure...he says he is still in NCP ...and by virtue of being a leader of NCP in Vidhansabha he can issue a whip.....obviously MLAs voting against the Whip will be disqualified.....I suspect that this is the end game or some MLAs from Shivsena will move over....the legal battle is far from over...

Better strategy for BJP was let the three other parties form Govt, it wont last for more than 6 months and then go for re-elections....

Though, I would not like to comment on politics, as far as I know, Ajit Pawar can issue the whip. He is the legislative party leader. Sharad Pawar cannot disown this through a press conference or newspaper statement. Votes going against the whip will get disqualified. Or 2/3 rds of NCP should split now and change their position and thereby create a new party. Anyways, if BJP loses then both Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar may end up like Chidambaram. So this is possibly a drama where they successfully removed naive SS as a partner in both central and state government and they are now winning the musical chairs. I would not be surprised if NCP joins the central government. Not that Modi needs any external support there, but having Pawars on his side helps in getting lot of things done from the opposition. (For example getting rid of irritable SS). Even Pawar needs Modi's help so that he does not meet with Chidambaram's fate. So he goes to Delhi to discuss "farmer distress" (He is the farmer here.) BJP must have raised the issue of distress in the first place. So to de-stress themselves, they seem to be dancing in all these scenes for Amit Shah's music.

Enough of politics. How will this help markets? I don't know.
