Legally, the pharmacies / chemists are supposed to tell you the generic names of the medicines prescribed. But then, the doctors are supposed to tell the patient details about the treatment. But the doctors will simply scribble down the medicines and tell you to return after 2 days.

What ever you say when it come to our own are concerned better buy branded products as efficacy and peak plasma level meets at mentioned desired time.
There are generics brand which are eleven very very cheap and now generic store are open they offer very best price.
I think if it for chronic decease like BP, suger, thyroid, etc. And severe infections better go for branded drugs.
Now you get good 20 % discount on Online shopping on branded drugs.
Better not no try generic drugs.....

Sir, subah open hi resistance par huwa n didnt even go in the resistance zone, n then gradually went out of upsloping trendline, hence chances of fall or sideways were very high

What you said is valid in some situations but you are grossly drawing a line between normal and generic drugs which is not the case.
Generic are not a different category, even they use the same formulation as normal drugs and are manufactures after the pharma company's patents expire on that formulation. Generic medicines also go through the approval process.

But I also think its better to avoid generic medicines ( for other reasons ). In fact not only generic, it is better to avoid drugs manufactured by unknown pharma companies which doctors prescribe. Always prefer brands from top Pharma companies.

Almost all meds in India are generics, basically copies of off-patent US drugs.
But then in India there are branded generics from known pharma companies and unbranded generics from unknown companies.

For unbranded generics, I am not sure what regulatory requirements are needed. For simple and long proven meds like paracetamol and amlopidine, I suppose this is okay. For newer and more serious ailments, I am not so sure.
