Unplanned trading day... really uncontrolled trading. Impulse trades. Bad exits.... In the end red turned into green because of a few moves (that I could not trail well). Not happy though. A potential blockbuster day turned into a average profit day.

--- Replaced TATASTEEL with LT ---
--- Reliance looks weakest of the 3 scrips ---

1. rl short 918, out 914.75 - hindsight: could have trailed tighter
2. lt long 1824, out 1822
3. lt short 1819, out 1821

--- should have shorted Reliance instead of LT ---

4. nf short 8837, out 8846

--- Trades 3 and 4 were both quick entries, not well planned --- bad discipline, i guess ---

5. short nf 8837
6. SAR long nf 8842
7. SAR short 8847, out at 8853
8. nf short 8847, out ay 8854 - i am a man in a hurry, no patience

--- Today, my discipline is on leave ---
--- Break Time ---

9. nf short 8856, out 8853 - low risk SAR above 8859
10. lt short 1821, out 1823 - SL hit, just as I was thinking of tightening it
11. nf long 8870
12. SAR short 8865
13. SAR long 8866, out 8859

--- What a loser day!! Unable to make up its mind ---

14. rl long 924.5, out 934.8 - I am rich!! (not really)

--- meri lottery, lag ja ne wa li hai ???? ---
--- now Reliance trying to go up without me.... bhaad me jaaye. I don't care ---

15. long rl 941.7, out 940.65 - impulse trade

--- now trying to short - King to Pauper type trades??? ---

16. long rl 943
17. SAR short 941.55, out 943

--- Break time ---

18. short nf 8849, out 8791 - couldn't help it, trade came along as I was thinking of a break

--- reliance is a dirty trickster, falling down after shaking me out ---
--- MORAL OF THE STORY: YOU DON'T NEED A BREAK TO CALM DOWN, YOU JUST NEED PROFITS ---
--- Patience is a virtue. So, staying out (until I become impatient)

18. Short 8779, out 8786 - Patience?? What's that?? Now, staying out!!
19. rl long 926.1, out 927.45

--- Was an emotionally charged trading day for me.... Lost out on patience, discipline, and all those supposedly good things.

Though I managed to close with a decent profit after being in the red for long, the charts really show how stupid I am.

Missed a big chunk of all the big moves whenever i got the entries right.
I cry when I do not lock small profits, and I also cry when I get out early of big moves.
Then out of regret, took impulsive trades, giving up even part of the move that I earned !!! ---

Today, was good on Patience, but average on discipline. Avoided lot of "early" entries.

--- Logged in on time... but faced data issue... had to restart system to resolve it... just got everything set up now ---
--- NF looks weak, but I am targeting LT -- no good reason ---

1. lt long 1752, out 1764

--- L&T had a good reversal from resistance. but i am holding off booking, based on Wednesday's experience.... but today is not Wednesday ---

--- now looking to short Nifty, instead of L&T ---
--- trigger cancelled. will now wait for next opportunity - with PATIENCE ---

2. rl long 941.6, out 940.35
3. nf short 8692, out 9692
4. rl long 934.3, out 932.8

--- I want to short. But when and where?? ---
--- Decided: Reliance to be shorted at LOD.... ignoring Nifty for now ---

5. nf long 8667, out 8671 - was too good a high volume reversal to ignore, already said sorry to my ego
6. lt short 1758, out 1762
7. nf short 8656, out 8650 - again not booked profit
8. rl short 931.15, out 928.6

--- the last trade was the trade that my ego was waiting for... i exited it early, even with Wednesday's bad experience because EOD was close ---

9. rl short 926.75, out 928.4 - avoidable last minute trade, L&T was a better option

--- Another small profit day ---

Today, i was not in a mood to trade, for almost the entire day. Later, profits pepped me up somewhat.

2 trades so far:

1. nf short 8596, out 8601
2. nf long 8608, out 8605 - delayed entry, again: did not lock any small profit
3. nf short 8590, out 8588

--- what is the use of patience? None so far.... if I had taken profits in a hurry, i would have been up 25-30 points in NF by now ---

4. nf long 8580, out 8572 - i had placed order on both sides and gone out, should have been a SAR
5. nf short 8571, out 8678 - could have been more PATIENT

--- BREAK TIME ---

6. nf short 8568, out 8572

--- very bad trading so far ---

7. lt short 1734, out 1728

--- missed BOF in Nifty ---
--- would have shorted Reliance at LOD, but BOF by the time I placed my order. Lucky!!!
will short if it comes down ---
--- Reliance went down without filling my order ---
--- Focus on Nifty now, around RN ---

8. nf short 8542, out 8516

--- finally moved TSL to lock in some profit ---
--- sustained high volumes for so many bars. What's up? ---

9. nf short 8493, out 8464 - this short inspired by the fall in L&T

--- ready to short nf at LOD again ---

--- Finally, a decent profit day after a long time. The first 6 trades, all Nifty, put me in loss, but the next 3 compensated. I was unlucky to have missed the short in Reliance (I actually missed 2 shorts in Reliance)... Reliance had the smoothest fall. Also, was unlucky to get out of trade 8 at 8516 which was the pivot peak, but I refuse to call it a bad exit as I was trying to lock in some profit... Happy :), but could have been better ---

Still learning patience.... For trades 2 and 3, I wanted to enter Shantala* style, on the extreme pullback bars, but I did not do it and missed a few points. I trade 4, I actually did it, and netted a probably unnecessary loss.

* My reference to Shantala is not an attempt to denigrate her :). Unlike me, Shantala was very patient and used to take H1 and L1 entries after long consolidations/ranges...
See --> http://www.traderji.com/trading-diary/93246-breakout.html

1. short 8245, out 8251
2. long 8256, out 8263
3. short 8235, out 8216
4. short 8205, out 8215
5. long 8219, out 8241
6. short 8241, out 8250
7. short 8238, out 8222
8. short 8289, out 8276

Managed to get back to terminal slightly after 3 PM. So, missed the move to 8300, but managed another short in the last 15 minutes.

Another small profit day.

Now mechanical trading....
Done for the day.

After trade 8, I was sitting on a good profit, but with all those later trades, I managed to snatch loss from the jaws of profit :annoyed:
I am posting this chart for my own reference. I know what those circles mean...

Until trade 8, I was good. After that, I placed a PP short below the 1:18 bar. It remained open for a long time. I cancelled it only after the price moved above 8310. So, it was already my intention to take a PP short. At 1:54, there was BOF of Nifty Spot, but I did not take it because of BRN below. Then I went out to chat with a friend. When I came back, saw the fall, and took 2 shorts on the 2:06 green bar. That was followed by 3 more losses, as I kept chasing the price down. That put me in loss.

I had no choice then but to move to mechanical, because I find it difficult to trade discretionary when I am not calm.

Moral of the story:
1. Don't chase price
2. Keep cool

After chasing many 'systems', I finally now trade NIFTY futures with just PSAR signals nearly mechanically using default settings only and it works quite well

Well now that you made it public, you will be flooded with many requests of sharing the AFL, time frame, stop loss, targets, you name it . . . . .

Thanks
