Strongly disagree, this virus is not just time pass. We need to rise above this thought. Please look at Russia, the price they're paying for such attitudes. One month back they were less than 10k. Today, the nation is being crippled down to its knees. Secondly the fear is not for self: It's more for someone in the family, may be in the form of parents, children, then comes job, security and in the bigger frame our beloved country itself!!!
Yes, Family and elders are the concern including those who have ailments already. Russia is not the correct example, probably Sweden is.
India will also go through the phase over a much longer period of time. In any case if the economy does not start opening
up partially, many companies will remain shut forever.

For those who are between 18 - 50 yrs of age and who are not currently staying with family should be allowed more movement since there is no real cause of worry. Nutrition plays a vital role, so probably centers should be set up for infected people to get a good meal if required (maybe at nominal prices) .. many labourers and working class who are staying in bachelor type accommodation should be allowed to start off.

The rest can wait for vaccine or cure ... !! :)

strange are the ways in TJ
a member named a person in his post, it was okay and secular. I put the same person's name in reply, it become communal and was deleted by moderation.
:DD:DD Yeah , I had put the same in my post, but edited it. If you happen to call the moderator a virus, it is likely to be edited ... ;);)

UK Coronavirus Vaccine Trials Get Underway
Today (23 April), the first human trials of a potential Covid-19 vaccine get underway from the University of Oxford. Scientists working on the vaccine say the injection they are developing has an 80% chance of success.

All in all, there is alikely to be a tested antivirus by December .

Also, the news of reinfection was an incorrect one. The tests that were conducted later only had dead/inactivated RNA strains which showed as RNA material in the tests. So re-infection is something not likely to happen unless a really big mutation happens.

In any case the BCG vaccine which is compulsory in India seems to be effective against Coronavirus, thats wy we are not seeing so many cases and not so much mortality in India.

More below:
The theory is that these vaccines could make people less likely to experience serious symptoms — or even any symptoms — if they catch it.

At more than 25 universities and clinical centers around the world, researchers have begun clinical trials, primarily in health care workers, to test whether a live tuberculosis vaccine that has been in use for 99 years called the bacillus Calmette-Guérin, or B.C.G., vaccine, could reduce the risks associated with the coronavirus.

Another small but esteemed group of scientists is raising money to test the potential protective effects of a 60-year-old live polio vaccine called O.P.V.

It’s counterintuitive to think that old vaccines created to fight very different pathogens could defend against the coronavirus. The idea is controversial in part because it challenges the dogma about how vaccines work.

No, its not about me, its about others and the economy. Livelihoods of the poor are starkly different from even the middle class. In any case, I would not want to go out and risk an infection. However, I believe we should not be too afraid.

With everything in lockdown mode, there is no public transport and most people are afraid. That's the part we should avoid. The B.C.G vaccine and polio vaccine have probably got us some protection already.

98% of the infected persons in Tamil Nadu are without symptoms. So whats the point of panicking.

It would be good for all staying in a family unit to wear masks, to limit the transmission of the virus as nobody really knows how fast this virus is travelling.

In Karnataka, there are few cases but there are many distant occurrences of Influenza-Like-Illness ( ILI ) which could be a sign that most people are getting it, only thing that there are no outwardly symptoms !!

we are daily making new highs in corona cases reported !! and yet we are focused on old data that cases are doubling @ low rates !

If 2500 cases were reported yesterday, it could means they might have infected more people until they were tested ! Due to unavailability of rapid test kits, high prices of testing (set by govt at Rs. 4500) which not many could afford if they are not under Ayushman Bharat scheme. Family of 4 have to spend Rs. 18000 !

Thousands are people are "isolated" or "quarantined" in many small towns which means they are shifted to big hall (marriage or sports or conference) were they are free to mingle with each other!. Sooner or later we will see explosion of cases. Hope mortality rate stays low so that we can build immunity.

probably you think internet blogs are real source of information. The Hindu is reputed news paper so as is Indian Express. Just because they posted something against governing party in recent times, you cannot forget that they dig up Bofors scandal in past too
