Being Informed

I am starting this thread after a long deliberation.
I will be posting News / articles that I feel is informative and
of interest and are usually not covered in popular media. These,
I believe, will keep us informed to a certain extent. Although it
may or may not make any difference, at least, we will be informed.
I welcome reader’s contribution as well.

Thanks

Report links antibiotics at farms to human deaths

Washington -- The Centers for Disease Control on Monday confirmed a link between routine use of antibiotics in livestock and growing bacterial resistance that is killing at least 23,000 people a year.

The report is the first by the government to estimate how many people die annually of infections that no longer respond to antibiotics because of overuse in people and animals.

CDC Director Thomas Frieden called for urgent steps to scale back and monitor use, or risk reverting to an era when common bacterial infections of the urinary tract, bloodstream, respiratory system and skin routinely killed and maimed.

"We will soon be in a post-antibiotic era if we're not careful," Frieden said. "For some patients and some microbes, we are already there."

The discovery of penicillin in 1928 transformed medicine. But because bacteria rapidly evolve to resist the drugs, and resistance is encouraged with each use, antibiotics are a limited resource.

Govt. concerned and caring for the common and ordinary citizens!!! …those days are gone.

Any critical information that will affect a large group or whole country/world and create chaos or mass hysteria/panic is deliberately withheld, misinformed, suppressed or delayed.

How the "Internet of Things" May Change the World

Wireless connectivity of billions of objects offers many benefits—and risks...

What will happen when everything is connected to the internet?

How the "Internet of Things" May Change the World
By Brian Clark Howard| Nat Geo

This week, the Oxford English Dictionary added the phrase "Internet of things" to its hallowed pages, along with such neologisms as Bitcoin (a virtual currency), selfie (a self-portrait photo), twerk (a new dance move), and fauxhawk (a mohawk hairstyle achieved with gel and a comb).

But what exactly is the Internet of things, and how might the emerging technology change our lives?

The Internet of things is a concept that aims to extend the benefits of the regular Internet—constant connectivity, remote control ability, data sharing, and so on—to goods in the physical world. Foodstuffs, electronics, appliances, collectibles: All would be tied to local and global networks through embedded sensors that are "always on."

1000 tons of polluted Fukushima water dumped in sea

The operator of the leaking Fukushima nuclear plant said Tuesday that it dumped more than 1,000 tons of polluted water into the sea after a typhoon raked the facility.

The operator of the leaking Fukushima nuclear plant said Tuesday that it dumped more than 1,000 tons of polluted water into the sea after a typhoon raked the facility.

Typhoon Man-yi smashed into Japan on Monday, bringing with it heavy rain that caused flooding in some parts of the country, including the ancient city of Kyoto.

The rain also lashed near the broken plant run by Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO), swamping enclosure walls around clusters of water tanks containing toxic water that was used to cool broken reactors.

Some of the tanks were earlier found to be leaking contaminated water.

"Workers measured the radioactive levels of the water collected in the enclosure walls, pumping it back into tanks when the levels were high," said a TEPCO official.

"Once finding it was mostly rain water they released it from the enclosure, because there is a limit on how much water we can store."

The utility said about 1,130 tons of water with low levels of radiation -- below the 30 becquerels of strontium per litre safety limit imposed by Japanese authorities -- were released into the ground.

But the company also said at one site where water was found contaminated beyond the safety limit workers could not start the water pump quick enough in the torrential rain, and toxic water had leaked from the enclosure for several minutes.

Strontium is a potentially cancer-causing substance that accumulates in bones if consumed.

Thousands of tonnes of water that was poured on the reactors to tame meltdowns is being stored in temporary tanks at the plant, and TEPCO has so far revealed no clear plan for it.

The problem has been worsened by leaks in some of those tanks that are believed to have seeped into groundwater and run out to sea.

Separately, around 300 tonnes of mildly contaminated groundwater is entering the ocean every day having passed under the reactors, TEPCO says.

Aluminum in Deodorant Linked to Breast Cancer in New Studies

By Arjun Walia

If you really take the time to look into it, it can be extremely overwhelming to find out just how many ingredients in cosmetic and personal care products shouldn’t be in there. We have surrounded ourselves with an extremely toxic environment, with approximately one in every eight of the 82,000 ingredients used in cosmetic and personal care products being hazardous toxic industrial chemicals.

This means that 10,500 industrial toxic chemicals are used as cosmetic ingredients, many of which are carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxins, endocrine disruptors and more. It doesn’t take long for your bloodstream to absorb whatever toxic chemicals you decide to put on your body. So why do we continue to use these products given the fact that they pose such a high risk to human health?

Despite the fact that new research indicates that Aluminum has cancer-causing properties, it’s still considered by most health authorities as perfectly acceptable to eat, inject into your body as a vaccine adjuvant and to wear as an antiperspirant. This is clearly a problem, and it’s hard to understand how and why they are so heavily mass marketed. At the end of the day, you still have a choice. The days in which the human mind is so susceptible to programming from major corporations that do not have our best interests at hand are slipping away.

A recent study published in the Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry found increased levels of aluminum in non-invasively collected nipple aspirate fluids from 19 breast cancer patients(1). These patients were compared with 16 healthy control subjects.
