Chat Room Usage?

Of late I have noticed that there has not been much activity in the Chat Room. As we have to rent out server space and pay for bandwidth for the chat room (which costs $$$), I would like to have feedback from the forum members if we should continue with the chat room or not?

I would appreciate if members could post their views & comments here to help decide on this matter.

I have been using the chat room quite extensivly.
Hope you are not thinking of discontinuing it.

I did some out-of-the-box thinking and came up with this idea :

See , right now u have free access 24/7 for the chat room. And still there's lukewarm participation ......

Now suppose you give it a semi-'forbidden' or 'restricted' tinge, maybe it will attract some interest. (Dont all of us like to taste what is forbidden?? ... yummm..)

So I suggest u restrict the timings to, say only 4 hrs a day... e.g. 10-12 am and again maybe 9-11 pm (latter for a post mortem of the day).

If it works, u can gradually enlarge the timings as 'demand' rises

What say ?

Maybe what we need is someone to hold & moderate chat sessions at certain times??

Traderji, Mostly the chat rooms are used in the night. After 10 usually and may stretch to 3 -4 am even.

Though I am not able to come to chat room now a days. It was very much educative for atleast me and Rajesh. So, if there is a educator, I guess chat room will serve its purpose the most.

What about making it voice compatible as well as a web-meeting ground? It might then be used for some unique things which some very good traders of this forum are trying to do with the help of other sites.

I use it during night, mostly the seniors come during that time only. It is 10PM to 2-3 AM for me.
But as Agilent suggested, you may think of time slots.

Dear Traderji

Like everybody has said the chat room active after 10 p.m. I have been a regular participant for quite sometime.. I must admit that the chat room did help me to have close interactions with many leading members of the forum like Amit and saint and develop good friendship with many members Ajay, Vish, Ashish, Satya, Raj to name a few. I have also used the chat room to impart some knowledge in Technical Analysis to some members. However I must also admit that the number of regular participants is limited with occasional tip seekers popping in. I feel closing the chat room will be a loss to some of the members. I feel that we must explore the possibilities of popularizing the chat room rather than closing it. If we can arrange some sessions on specific topics it may attract more members. The senior members can come forward to host such sessions. I do hope the members would realize the value addition provided by the chat room.

Dear traderji,

chat room was being used by many people, particularly during night times. i feel, the facility of chat room may be continued.

if possible, use of chat room may be further popularised by conducting speacial topic based chat sessions conducted by expert members. when the membership is touching 10,000 mark, facilities available may be augmented to provide increased satisfaction to members.

alternate methods of revenue generation and enhancement may be planned.
if, however, restricting hours shall reduce the bandwidth commitment, and result in savings, by the experience so far, 9 PM to 2 AM is the slot used by members. we can think of the morning 9 AM to 11 AM slot also as the additional slot for chat room availability.
