Default what is the criterion for the reputation?

Mod's plz tell,
What is the criterion for the rep in traderji?

Is it system based or mod's and sup.mod manually assign the reputation,
or based on members opinion ?
I have come across many anomalies in the repping system.Newbies are getting more rep's than worthy candidates.

see the following snapshot here a novice with 2 posts(that too of enquiry type) is enjoying the reputation of 20.
members weigh posts on posters rep and may take critical decision believing on rep's credibility.
so rep's should be assigned carefully.

Its fully based on the reputation clicks a person receives!!! It used to have a feature of negative marking also but the same was removed after a 'few heart burns' due to uncalled for negative marking!!!'
I just gave you a Repuation 'mark'!!!!
My personal opinion : The repuation indiactor is more of 'ornamental' value now!!!

I am not entirely sure what criteria is Traderji following for Rep pts. but as far as I can understand every member starts with 20 pts. as starting and then the points are added or deducted as the member gets Reps from fellow members

Regards

very true. my rep jumped to 25 from 24 recently.

Code:
My personal opinion : The repuation indiactor is more of 'ornamental' value now!!!
that's true, but it has a psychological effect on the subconscious mind.
we shall perceive differently to the same thing quoted by 2 members with rep's 60 and 10 respectively.
Suppose, if i know something is right, and the same is negated by rep 60member, I shall doubt(atleast for sometime) it's veracity.
while the same is done by rep 10 member, I shall start making things clear to him.
Same is true with number of posts.
we often dont think rationally. and it's human nature(or behaviour).

mahesh

Traderji has disabled reputation
Reputation: 157
Default Re: what is the criterion for the reputation?

The user reputation system was introduced in Oct. 2006! See thread at http://www.traderji.com/announcement...w-enabled.html

Initially we had both positive and negative reputation, but later on the negative reputation was disabled.

The User Reputation System is a great tool for showing your appreciation to a member of this forum by praising or acknowledging their thread or post. As human beings we all respond positively to praise/appreciation in a way that it brings out the very best in us. So if you read a post or thread which you appreciate then please express your appreciation by clicking on the weighing scale next to the post number. Please remember to do this for every good post or thread you read every day. As Ralph Marston once said: If you truly appreciate a good thing you'll get more of it!

Since the User Reputation System does not reveal the identity of the member rating a thread or post I think it is a great tool to control the quality of a posts or threads in the forum. With the User Reputation System, members can collectively work together to enhance/improve all discussions made in this forum. Please note that members cannot see who left the ratings on their posts/threads.

You can view a members reputation on the upper right hand side (under number of posts) of every post he/she makes!

Isnt it possible to create such button as for promotion of reputation system ?

people will instinctively use such buttons. if they want to appreciate the post. many are 'not aware / forget' to use weighing scale icon.
