people will instinctively use such buttons. if they want to appreciate the post. many are 'not aware / forget' to use weighing scale icon.
i totally agree with Omkar's view .
it would be much better if we could have something like he suggested.
that way, more members will start to use the reputation system.

regards
frank

Mr Karnani,

Does it really matters,i am here now more than 3.5 Yrs,with the highest posts,(this proves mostly to be Garbage )how many Reputation points i got till date.Recently just looked once to find out whether above 50 or not, gave Karthik Reputation points so that he can surpass 50,dont you feel Karthik should have atleast not less than 75 & Kalyan below 50 !!??
As now Reputation points is displayed ;found in pm box newcomer with 10 points !! for just few posts.
Many of my Threads do not even have any Star ratings only one gets 5 Star ratings time to time & reduces to 3 Star within couple of days.Does these really matters.
The new Thread of Kalyan can take care of all queries in Advanced Threads.

asish da
u are rgt,, it hardly matters ,, a lot with reputations point,,,but still shows u are on distinguished road,,
i would add a suggestion that members holding different position is this forum...like super moderator / moderator,,,and many post also shoudl be mad ,,and their names should be shown in different colours also,,which will also lay important / and weightage

though this is not the rgt place to suggest here(should post in the respective thread) but i had earlier also posted this(since saw in many forums),,,but nothing was done,,letsee,,!!!
it should become more like community showing newcomers the right path,,,and asking their queries to rgt and able person,,,and getting learned from those specifically

No Dada, it does not matter, my view was only that Reputation is a misguiding word to be used in the context we are using the function, and feel 'Appreciation' may be better decribe the function for which it is used!!!

Though agree with you 100% IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!

Deb, maybe, its only a guess , the points were supposed to tell the new entrant or a less frequent visitor about the person posting a particular thread or post....how much his/her posts are important and relaiable!!!
Though it seems it has no such use now that we have seen how indiscriminately it has been used!!!

May be this function is exclusively used by the Moderators or Super Moderator to assign some marking to the GOOD POSTS or POSTERS!!

It may help users to sift grain and chaff!!!!
