If its a junk thread , no body cares for it .
Making 40-50 mandatory posts to start a new thread , some newbies may flood other threads with irrelevant messages or you may see too many single word / line messages like " thank you , good work , excellent job ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"

I feel 100 junk threads is better than spoiling a good thread

Sometimes when one is searching for something, the relevant thread may not be highly visible because of too many irrelevant threads.

There could be many ways to deal with this problem like :

1. After a certain period of time if a thread does not get a minimum no. of hits, maybe that thread can be deleted.

2. If we make it a point to rate all threads whenever we come across them, the threads falling in poor category could be deleted after a certain period of time.

3. There could be system where a person should send a request to the mods giving specific reasons for starting a new thread.. Though this will be a bit tough for the mods.

Cheers
Kapil

RK has a good point but i agree with sanx aswell.........
also moderators should be given the power to ban a person who keeps posting his views in a wrong thread inspite of repeated warnings for e.g. FA views on a TA thread and vice-versa....

RK,

I am not of this view, like some mandatory Rules of No. of posts but some mechanism to Stop opening of a New Thread just like that, there has to be some guideline, you & me are here for quite some time, many a times we have expressed your opinion on a relevant thread.
How many Thread Kalyan has but he actively participate in interesting Threads.
How many thread do Saint have,we find on the same subject many different threads ,rather if it is in a single thread then it becomes easier & convinient for us to weigh, everybody's view.
It is immaterial WHO has started the thread,in few of my Threads,Saint/Ashish/Ajaz/etc Actively participates .

Hope could clear my feelings.

Asish

Ashish da,

I think the solution is other way round. Let the seniors/moderators have their threads in a separate place, which will be easy to access for others and to learn. Let the newbies continue to post as usual.

Thanks

I am personally not in favour of restricting new members from starting new threads. The reason for this has been answered by some members below.

The mods are already doing an excellent job in cleaning up irrelevant new threads from this forum on a daily basis. If you do find a thread that needs removal please bring it to my or the mods notice for consideration.
