OK, then I suggest that all the unrated threads and threads without rated posts should be removed after six months of inactivation.
Besides, members should be given some time, say one month, to rate their favorite threads.
Regards.

This is a good suggestion. Besides, whenever a member tries to open a new thread, a message should come up requesting to look for information or post message in existing threads or wait for (say) five minutes before starting a new thread (as is done at rapid share and 4shared sites, before downloading a file).
Regards.

But the idea is not to display the replies for a particular thread, rather to bring to fore those threads that have received the most replies/viewings (in last 5 days or last 24 hrs, whatever is deemed suitable) i.e. the most active threads in other words. Clicking on a column header (which will bear the same names as now but be links instead of plain text) will change the sort order (descending by default, but toggle between ascending/descending with each click) of the listings in 'New Posts' & 'Today's post' (and similar pages in each section). Like clicking on the 'Replies' header will bring to the top the threads that have received the most replies. However, if i have started a thread that has received just 1/2 replies it'll still be at the bottom of the heap (so nothing user-specific).

Likewise, a 'Most Rated' link will show us (in descending order) those threads that have received the highest ratings (either fro the entire thread or posts within the thread)

Well, people are generally not wasteful (at least not wantonly so) with things for which they have to pay out of their pockets (like fuel for their vehicles). The server space we all use freely is not exactly free - somebody has to pay for it. So why not enforce some discipline to prevent wasteful usage? More so, when this is a public platform and the convenience of fellow users also deserve consideration.

That's better. Base it on some numerical parameter rather than subjective (& judgmental) views of what's useful/useless.

I have removed this irritation (this limitation was introduced to prevent server overloads), but however if I find the server loads going up I may need to reintroduce this again.

Similarly, a sort on the 'Thread' column can be used to bring up the most recent threads (however this will require a date & time stamp for the start of a thread if this isn't already maintained internally)

We can also have links like 'Most Viewed', 'Most Active', 'Most Rated' at appropriate (& preferably easily accessible locations). The same can be plugged-in to the Search page as well.

A 'Most reputed' members list, with each ID hyperlinked to thier most recent posts, will also allow a quick check on the recent posts made by our most valuable members. (This will also increase the 'Net worth' of the member reputation system)

Regards
You can adjust how threads are displayed using the thread display option in your user cp!

The thread display options (linear, threaded, hybrid) are for displaying posts within a thread; my suggestion was with regard to the (tabular) display on the 'New Posts' & 'Today's Posts' pages.

Or am i missing something?!

Kalyan.
