![]() I think if thread rating and promotion of important threads to the top of the forum ( either in active topics menu or new posts menu, two most clicked URLs) may be useful. Net of positive and negative ratings may be displayed. Also top ten posts may be reserved for what moderators think are important and should be seen by first time visitors. Then when someone posts uninformed tips , moderators may make comments and ask member to desist from it. Same way other members may do so to make forum useful. A little spat adds to spice, so no one should mind. pk ![]() BTW I recommend Firefox 3.0 and also download hordes of add ons and themes and plugins which suit one's style. Its a wonderful browser and quite addictive. I would say atleast Speed Dial, close tab Button, and Basics add on is must. |

I did not want to be left out, and hence am adding my 2 cents.1. There are too many people that want to air opinion on everything and anything they read. As much as we tout free speech, these "opnionators" (not a dictionary word) need to be discouraged. 2. There are too many great posts and very smart people, It would be great if the moderators (based on popular opinion) provide a star system, that would help new comers and old timers to read the "good stuff". Many a daimonds lost is a pile of rocks 3. There are a tons of posts that read like a chat session, would this not be better done in a yah0o group or a chat box, this forum is about exchanging ideas and learning. I for one would be lost without traderji.com . I understand that there is a thin line between "freedom" and "restrictions", but that's why we have moderators.4. It would be great to see a list of people with great track records like MagnetMan, Nadodav, RajnikantSharma, Uashish (my intrest is JustNifty hence I may have left out the other "best" ones) have their own mailing list under traderji. and much more... Regards, JustNifty |

so whats the action items out of this thread asish?
I had suggested these before also . 1.For the first 50 posts new user cannot start a thread . 2.Immediate ban for advertisers . 3.Infraction for ppl post crap and and nonsense . 4.Rep ping or rewarding a member for his good post . I don't know if this works . 5.Senior persons should have stars or posts like golden member , silver member or diamond person ...some thing of those lines . 6.Delete unnecessary post as and when required . 7.More mods . will add more . |

I think most of the features that you are talking about are already availabe here.
You have a thread rating system in place to rate threads. The forums allow you to rate threads between 1 star (terrible) and 5 stars (excellent). Once enough votes are cast for a thread, stars will appear next to its name in the listings. These show the average vote, and can be an easy way to see which threads are worth reading if you are on a busy forum. On the forum viewing page you can also arrange threads by rating, with either the highest or lowest at the top. It therefore makes sense to rate threads because it helps all users. To do this, click on the 'rate thread' link at the top of the thread viewing page. Choose the number of stars you feel best represents the quality of the thread. You may or may not be able to change your choice of rating at a later date. Member Reputation Rating System Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. How do I give reputation? To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice. How do I know what reputation I have received? You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown. How much reputation is given? What is reputation power? If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied. Report a Bad/Objectional Post or thread. If you would like to report report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts, etc, you can do so by clicking on the exclamation button in a red triangle next to the post count on the upper right hand corner of the post box. As a forum member you can use the above three tools to improve the quality of the discussions here! |

Its disheartening to see Asishda's post, but my input:
I have been visiting forums for years now, much before this forum came up, but please note after a bull market & the markets sink deeper & deeper people will keep loosing interest in stocks itself, thus quality views will disappear & as a barometer even the quantity posts will go away as we approach the end of the bear market & enter a long consolidation phase... 99% of old forums always shut down, but since this was a big bull run the effects are lingering & viewers / traders are still looking for ways to recover... Since this forums is the mother of all forums (quality wise) I have no doubts of survival, but a few suggestions if I may: The guru's here (you of course know who you are, so I dont need to name them & embarrass the others): You need to not just follow your threads but interact in the other guru threads, not necessarily on trade but generally also, like keep in touch in public... you see us learners / viewers like to see guru's interact, poke, talk... We need you to discuss... & others will naturally join in... but here you have divided different types of traders in different threads which becomes monotonous. You said: The Educative Threads are Lacking in Qty. the above clarifies that, as if the learned communicate then only will there be Educative threads... I not saying you dont as I 've seen you do it... but need the rest of the learned too... The junkies need to be warned... like I will show you to trade but dont ask me how, buy when I tell & sell when I tell kind... cause these guys cause the most damage... more traders take hits cause of them & they to disappear... Also as in Search you have added unanswered threads, if you could add Sticky threads, so it would be much easier to point newcomers to such thread instead copying pasting links every time someone wants to learn... My 2.5 cents... PS: Though I got a whiff of my old friend setting an example of my mutinous days
