My Anguish

Activity has been down off late, but I think that is primarily a function of market conditions after the correction in January 2008. After all even the trading volumes on the NSE has dropped by 50%.

Lately, I have noticed that many threads have posts with charts as examples instead of the usual "But this above that, etc". Visual charts are a great way of learning and sharing your experiences with other members in this forum. I encourage other members to share/discuss their experiences similarly.

Forums evolve over time and as I have seen over the many years the popular topics for discussion change based on the current market condition.

I wish to thank all the Mods for doing an excellent job here.

Even I share the same view as Traderji just said, the lack of good posts is mainly due to lack of very conductive market conditions like we have been having since last 3 years.

I suppose this is the first time since the start of Traderji forum that we are having a bear market in the global indices so it is upon senior members to take upon themselves that we use this time to tweak up our methodologies and thinkings related with trading and investments.

Earlier during the days of careless bull market any wrong trading decision taken was just ignored because the markets were ripe with innumerable opportunities and nobody cared about the system or methos just being in the market was all that mattered, but today is the time when only sharpest and the most well behaved traders will be able to handle the markets and all decisions require utmost care and planning to be carried out.

Now is the time when the respected members like Saint, Asish da, CV, PK Jha, karthik and many more take the torch in their hands and may be discuss the vast field of trading strategies that they have or may be they can discuss with the forum the trades that were sucessful and those that were not so sucessful.

This forum has been a treasure to so many thoughts that I cannot put to description, lets take it a step further

I am referring to the posts of Credit Violet, Hariomkar, Oxusmorouz and Ratan Jain.

After a day of hard work and study I feel refreshed by reading their posts.

The threads where at least two of them are active contain lot of wit, critical analysis and battle of words. I like the way they pounce on those who post irrational claims.

BTW, I also like the attitude of Saint, Savant, asishda, RKKarnani, no nonsense approach of Vinod, Shayeris and quotable quotes of Sudoku1. This is not to take away the credit from karthik, ,Ajay, Murthy,SGM, etc., sorry, I have to stop some where or else, I have to mention a page full of names.

I think most of the members are unique in their own way

Arjuna’s Anguish has resulted in Bhagavad Geetha, a great philosophical text.

Gauthama’s Anguish has resulted in a new religion, aka way of life.

Hope yours and karthiks’ will result in a new trading / teaching / sharing philosophy.

I believe that main beauty of this forum is Freedom of Expression/Posting. Let us not stifle this. Moderators are there to take care of any wayward postings.

but members are equally vigilant. Oldtimers would remember posts of Baron and few others and community response. Baron got wiser and members also became wiser .

Of course there may be some need to purge old posts , some of which may have lost relevance. That is for moderators to look into and decide.

Some of the great threads or what I call evergreen ones, have been included as link in traderji toolbar and instead of searching for them I use toolbar to revisit them. Of course there have been many others after that as well.

Before you find diamond you have to dig lots of dirt.
So think twice.

Yes I agree, diversification of views is what keeps the forum vibrant. My only point was that there is so much misinformation being posted and given that new traders dont have any background knowledge, the nonsensical posts will only set them for years of unlearning and financial loss. And I am talking this from my experience of meeting a few people from this forum who have been unsuccessful after years of work and it wasnt surprising given the views they held about trading in general.

Very thought provoking post Asishda, I am sure this dullness has come about by the current depressed state of the market but I feel this is the time when we have to hone our trading ideas and skills so that we go thru this tough period without any damage and we are ready to pile up when the mkt improves.Learning is best done in adverse period !!!!

May I suggest some remedy ? We have very successful and knowledgable senior members and they all must be having collection of good trading systems acquired over the years and you are a senior trader,you use your good offices to encourage all Moderators and Senior members to start atleast one new thread and discuss their secondbest system (if they feel their best is a proprietory syst ).This will suddenly enhance the contents of the forum.[b]Saint is already doing this in two of his excellent threads. We are new to this forum and our thirst for acquiring knowledge is such that we need few more "Saints".We also want to learn the syst you had shown in Kolkata meet from you Asishda. Hope that something very useful will come out of this anguish.I am very bullish on the capacity of you seniors.
