Dear fellow Traderjis:
Is it possible to set up separate threads or subforurms to deal with specific on-line brokers? I mean all users of "ICICI Direct" (for example) could look there and post their experiences (positive / negative) to a thread or subforum specific to that brokerage so that info / feedback specifc to an online-broker can be easily found and *perhaps* the brokers themselves could know what people think of their services. I, a newbie, have just started using Geojit's browser-based "Silver Platform" and would like to exchange views with other users of the same. Since I have only a dial-up Internet connection (in queue for BSNL Broadband for the last 4 months), I haven't checked out the demo available on line. My observations so far: The site is not painfully slow. I'd say it is fast for a dial-up user and so should be perfect for an occasional user. The FAQ re. online trading is okay but doesn't mention latest rates and seems to cover amenities available to Geojit's "Platinum Platform" without clearly stating that these aren't available for the cheapo Silver customers (Market Watch). Also, I feel that their platform is *not* browser-independent. Even after allowing for pop-ups, some buttons don't work with Firefox 3 (beta) for MS Windows and K-Meleon browsers but do so for Internet Explorer 6. What will Linux users and Mac users do? Geojit may not be favoring small sales and purchases. Their minimum brokerage is Rs. 19. So unless you buy or sell more than about Rs. 6667/- you won't get the 0.3% brokerage for delivery-based transactions. I understand, though this is not mentioned in the FAQ, that there is a Rs. 11/- DP charge for delivery instructions (sales) even with a PoA (power-of-attorney) since Geojit is my broker and DP. I don't know when this money will be deducted from the account. I sold a scrip on 10/01/2008 but this deduction has not been made till 8.00 pm on 11/01/2008. The good thing is you that the sales proceeds less brokerage and other taxes are immediately credited to my "buying power". If I want to transfer the money to my bank (Axis Bank), I must do so through Geojit's site. I haven't done so till now. Online transfer of funds from Axis Bank to Geojit was smooth. Thanks for reading, Vasa1 |
