Default A few suggestions to improve quality.

It has come to my notice from past many weeks that the forum is getting filled with one off post threads, irrelevant posts etc.

I am suggesting to traderji a few ways through which this can be prevented.

1)A requirement of at least 50 posts to start a new thread.

2)A sticky thread in each section where newbie questions can be attended.

3)This is a bit tough but can be done, registrations shud be done with working email ids like those provided by ISP's eg dataone, sigtel, satyamonline etc. Will block many potential troublemakers, trolls, etc. In fact Traderji can send reregistration invites to all members in bulk.

I think if these three steps or at least 2 of them are taken it will substantially improve the quality of forum.

Thanks and regards
Amit

I second Amitt's request. It would prevent a lot of spammers and multiple IDs. Thanks for considering, Traderji

We have a few members who are creating multiple id's and they have admitted, while earlier they said that they werent.By their own admissions.

It seems good enuff reason to ask members to re-register with working e-mail ids(that is provided by ISP's).If Traderji wants i volunteer to save the database backup of the forum i am sure many members wud be more than willing.

If some preventive steps are not taken i fear this august forum may get some nasty bumps ahead.

As they say prevention is better than cure.

Using ISP based email ids would deter a lot of newbies and existing members for sugning up as many members use *****, ***** and ******* of the few as their email address.

I am aware of the multiple ID problem as as I have access to the database and IP addresses of all members who visit/login here. Also posts by newcomers are being filtered, all spam/advertising/troll/etc posts are taken care of. Maybe some of them slip through which can be reported by members using the "Report Post" link.

As far as restrictions to newcomers starting new threads until a certain number of post counts I am looking into that.

dear traderji,

one more pls....
now-a-days, the challenger posts are creating nuisance....In such threads, people are quarelling, arguing uselessly... pls take some steps to avoid such things...

Also not with amitt29's 3rd suggestion.....it will prevent many genuine participants....

Another one....allow such threads where others except the threader who started cant post....

have a nice day
JB
