Default Hathway Internet

I hv been using hathway internet for nearly 1 and 1/2 years now at Thakur Village, Kandivili (E), Mumbai. My experience is that daily on an average atleast once there is disruption. Reason attributed is 'Techincal failures' or 'Power disruption'. There seems no end to this. To add to fuel to the problem, in last May 2006, I renewed my subscription. Even after the payment was credited line was suspended for want of renewal. In Dec. 2006, I again renewed the subscription and payment was cleared on 7th Dec. I confirmed this to their Shri. Bhavesh twice. But on 10th, my line was suspended again for want of renewal. I mean, this incident repeated twice and may happen even in future. What is more insulting is that on both the occasions, they had no courtesy even to inform me before disconnecting the line. On 10th dec., first I thought the disruption was as usual. I made 7 calls between 7PM and 7.30PM to their so called 7 x 24 customer service, but being Sunday, only their voice record msg. was answering the calls . Apparently, their so called customer service personnel were too busy on Sunday Moods. Finally, some one attended the call only to confirm my fear that the line was suspended. I repeatedly asked for clarification on phone and through e-mails. Every one refused to give me their Manager's contact numer as if he is inaccessible. No one answered my query as of now. Finally I took up with Nodal Officer but from here too there is no answer. Which means, we have to silently suffer all sort of this even after making prompt payments.

Friends, such things should not happen to any one other. I have no time to go to consumer courts/Forums, due to ill health and time that it might take . Hence I am reporting this for information of friends who use this Forum. Kindly Beware. I hv decided never to support the services of Hathway. It is not Hathway but Hangway!. Please note this and let us help each other.

Banger

As a retired professional , when I had to choose my place of retirement (now Bangalore) , net connectivity was a vital factor.

I suggest you do the same ( need not be Blore) , if u have a choice.

Else u will miss out on all the fun on sites such as Traderji

Good luck

Dear Narendraji,

Thank u for ur suggestion. But, there is no service of BSNL in Mumbai. MTNL, Reliance is costly. We hv to rely on other players like Tataindicom-VSNL or Sify. But one would appreciate, it would costly affair to keep on changing everytime as most of operators charge us installation cost. Anyway, I hv decided never to go for Hangway. I am making intesive search for alternate. I only request my friends in Mumbai once again to take note of my complaint seriously and keep away from Hangway!

Hi,

I had been using Hathway for almost 6 months.Their service is horrible. My Cable TV lights go..Hathway net down.At trading time opening of ICICIDIRECT OR even Sharekhan takes lot of time.If possible switch over to TataIndicom.I have found it to be the best .Their download speed is almost as committed.Browsing is fast.As we need to understand that HATHWAY shares it's Internet speed in ratio of 1:4.

This means if u are committed 64kbps ..then same link is distributed to other 3 people.
Which means if all of the 4 customers in start using the connection at a time. The speed gets distributed.

While is case of TataIndcom ..Try downloading and check the speed anytime.
Ofcourse not always..but u will see same speed many times.Atleast in Pune they are the best. And their Backbone , remember , is VSNL .

Hope you get VSNL/Tata asp and forget the down problem.Even is light goes their connectivity is up ..Ofcourse u shld have UPS.

All the best,
Raju

i just dont understand how people can recommend services like tata indicom!
what i am facing is a lot of speed problem with them and will never rcommend it to anyone and on the way to switch over to bsnl. i agree ,they are somewhat less reliable
but highly cost-effective, even reliance charges much less
than tata and service quality is similar .

i dont know what was the case for you, but i have faced this and by many in my circle .
in my view, tata indicom can be recomended if the only option.

thank you,
Rajib.

I had horrible experience with TataIndicom Mobiles. I earnestly pray all my friends to inform every family member and friends never go for Tata Indicom Mobiles. They simply loot the people. Even miss calls are charged. Beware. So far as Hathway Internet is concerned, I have clearly explained above which should be enough to understand about their service. I do not have any knowledge about Tata-VSNL internet. I believe, all service providers same; more or less. I hv not come accros reliance cable internet. In our area Sify and Tata Vsnl are only next alternative. Earlier I had tried Exatt, which is worst than Hangway.
