TA as a subject engrosses
But trading can be so dicey that there are constant misses
One has to know when to use TA
You can never be sure about constantly good phases
No matter how much experience you have in trend chases
Every other day you come across commandmends that remind you of Moses
You may as well back a horse in races
In contrast, for NKP and Jaideep, I have nothing but praises.
Thanks a lot sh50 for encouragement.

Default Poetic Resignation !!!

Employee Writes...

The name is good, the brand is big
But the work I do is that of a pig
The work or the brand; what is my way?
I don't know if I should stay.

To work, they have set their own way
Nobody will care to hear what I say
My will be NULL, they wont change their way
I don't know if I should stay.

The project is in a critical stage
But to do good work, this is the age
This dilemma is killing me day by day
I don't know if I should stay.

The money is good, the place is great
But the development is at a very small rate
Should I go for the work, or wait for pay
I don't know if I should stay!

The managers don't know what they talk
The team doesn't know where they walk
That's a bad situation, what say?
I don't know if I should stay.

I can go to any other place
But what if I get the same disgrace
I can't keep switching day by day
I don't know if I should stay.

The -ves are more, the +ves are less
Then why have this unnecessary mess
No more will I walk their way,
It's all done, I won't stay.

Thanks & Regards
Employee

Default Poetic Resignation

Manager's Replies...

What I want to say?

The decision is good or decision is bad
Only God knows still I am glad
Keep moving in life that is what I can say
If you feel right go in the same way

May god give you the work, the challenge you want
Anyway there is always a second chance
Chances are there, grab them snatch them
That is what I can say

Keep on jumping companies to get more and more and more....
That will keep you always a fore (Even to me)
From my experience I can tell you
Being in software development is like taking hell out of you

You are frustrated since you have no quality work
And you were frustrated because you had quantity work
It's always like that previous job was better than the current one
And expects the new job will be much better than this one

But what you get is a frustration level up to sun
Than you will again send the resignation like this one
This is all what I want to say

Have you completed all the formalities?
Filled the form and got it signed from department humanities (HR)

Once done you can take all your cash
But don't refer others as they will follow you're a*s.
At last I appreciate your contribution to the company
Even though there was not any....

You will keep a copy of this with you for FYI
Don't feel shy
As I also got it some time back from my old manger say Hi....
That is all what I want to say.

Thanks & Regards
Manager

Default Beta version of SHOLAY famous dialouge !!!

Beta version of SHOLAY famous dialouge !!!

Gabbar sends Kaalia and his other two
colleagues to Ramgad for collecting the 'loot-maar' software which
he had ordered. They reach Ramgad and start shouting:

"Abe O Thakur! Baahar nikal !! Kahan hai wo loot-maar software, jo
hamne order kiya tha?"

Dhaniya, an old man comes out with a floppy in his hand.

Kaalia - "Kya laye ho dhaniya?"

Dhaniya - "Financial Accounting software hai sarkar."

Kaalia - "Suwar ke bacche! Yeh bekar software hamare liye naya?
Aur woh loot-mar software kya apni beti ke baratiyon ke liye zip
file mein chuppa ke rakha hai? Haraam-zada !!"

Thakur comes out of his house with anger, saying:
"Chillao mat kaalia !! Jaakar gabbar se kah do ki Thakur
Software walon ne paagal kutton ke liye software banana bund
kar diya hai"

Kaalia - "Bahut garmi dikha rahe ho thakur? Koi naye programmers hire
kiye hain kya??"

Thakur - "Nazar utha ke dekh, Kaalia, tere sar par powerbuilder chal
raha hai".

Kaalia lifts his head. He sees Viru (Dharmendra) working on a PC on
one water tank and Jay (Amitabh) on another water tank, punching the
keys of a Laptop.

Kaalia starts laughing and says:
"Haa Haa...Ye log programming karenge thakur? Haa haa... in koto
DOS commands bhi nahin aate. Suno ramgad ke vasiyon, thakur ne
hijdon "ki software company banaayi hai"

Veeru shouts: "Chup-chap chala ja kaalia.
Ham log consultants hain, kuch bhi kar sakte hain"

Jay hits some commands on his keyboard.
Then says: "Jao kaalia, gabbar se kahna ki uska server down ho gaya"

Kaalia - "Jaata hoon thakur. Agar gabbar ko pata chala ki Thakur
Software walon ne uska loot - maar software nahin banaya, to wo
poore network mein virus daal dega"

Nice poetry, NKP and Good dialogues. I have done a lot of software development in my life but never thought on these lines. In two packages the financial accounting pacakge was fantastic but the inventory was atrocious. For those two, the dialogues are apt.

Never heard of powerbuilder by the way. Miind enlightening me?

Default Investing, Trading And Day Trading .....

INVESTING, TRADING AND DAY TRADING .....

1. INVESTING : It is like climbing the hills of tirupathi on foot. it is an arduous journey and first timers will find it exhausting and will almost give up, but if u are patient and determined u will climb it. the "pros" will be able to climb it with less effort and faster.

MOST ABLE BODIED PEOPLE, WITH A LITTLE BIT OF PATIENCE AND DETERMINATION, CAN CLIMB THE HILL SUCCESSFULLY.

2. TRADING : it is like climbing any of the mountains in the HIMALAYAS . this is far tougher. u need to be extremely FIT AND HEALTHY. this alone is not enough. u need to have the RIGHT EQUIPMENT. u need to know the WEATHER CONDITIONS right upto the HOUR. u need to constantly reassess the route u hv taken to the GOAL.u also need DOLLOPS OF LUCK.

many times u are caught in a BLIZZARD and are forced to RETREAT .

many of ur companions will FAIL, and u will need that extra amount of PATIENCE AND DETERMINATION to reach the SUMMIT.

MANY PEOPLE TRY , YET VERY FEW PEOPLE SUCCEED, though, from the distance, the mountains look INVITING and EASY.

3. DAYTRADING : it is like climbing MOUNT EVEREST in the HIMALAYAS , but WITHOUT OXYGEN !!!!!.

one can imagine the fitness/effort/guts and above all LUCK needed to achieve this feat.

IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE , BUT VERY VERY FEW PEOPLE HAVE SUCCEEDED.!!!!.

Conclusion : This is the advice i give to people who come to meet me. believe it or not, most of them ardently believe, that THEY CAN DO EVEREST WITHOUT OXYGEN !!!!!.

Default Re: Golden Box

I came across the following words in the Security Analysis (1934) that seemed relevant to the current topic, hence the update:

"The potential profit to be taken into account is not the maximum figure which might conceivably be reached in the market, but merely the highest figure which the operator is likely to wait for before he closes his position. Once a given profit is taken, the additional profit which might have been realized becomes of merely academic interest"

Default Ruminations Over Ten-Baggers

Ruminations Over Ten-Baggers

Charlie Munger has said, "There is always somebody who will do things better than you."

Understanding this is very important (I feel from my personal experience) The reason is Human mind is a system programmed to get feedback from things that are around it or variables of the same system, in this case, human beings . In the process the degree to which it gets influenced is erratic. This is the cause for various types of misjudgements or biases, I feel.

Realisation:
Last week I was in Mumbai. I asked somebody whom I know if I can sit at BOLT (Equity Trading terminal) for 3 hours. He agreed and it was there that I learnt an important lesson and I would love to share it with you.

What Led to The Lesson:
The room comprised of mainly day traders (Speculators). The BOLT also had a Technical program. They ran through the charts of stocks that had in essense proved to be Ten-Baggers in the last year or so. They were all also ruminating over the fact that they were in it until it was a double bagger and things like that. The fact that struck me was that they did not care about value at all. What was it worth? That was not on their minds and yet the ruminations!!!

Lesson Learnt:
Coming back to Munger's words, understanding those lines eradicates deadliest of seven sins, Envy. What has envy got to do with Investing? Much to do I feel. Because the returns that we are going to make are to be seen in relation to that of markets and people whom we like or envy(compare to). When we try to compare only the results we miss on the causes and concentrate on the effect. Thus we end up comparing two different variables that constitute a system but in essense have no connection between them.

I think is the best way to deal is to compare our result with the result we intended to seek out, based on the intrinsic value & the purchase price of our stock.

We should seek to recieve what we deserve rather than what we desire. This applies to everything we do, but more so importantly in Investing. Because markets honours humility over the long term, nothing else.

All said and done, Habits dont go away easily and also nothing comes easy. So it is either we learn to change ourselves to the need of the system or contradict the system to find ourselves removed from the system.
