Hi friends,

I am having pentium 4 pc. I was using tatabroadband internet. It was running 6kbps on dnload or upload. I changed to bsnl.
Now my pc runs slow. hangs up frequently.

I installed registry easy and did some cleanup.
I could not remove duplicate files.
I got my system formatted.

I dont know what else to do.
I already cleaned up my temp files. I defragmented my c drive which has 70% freespace.
My ram is 2 gb.

I am thinking of netbooster. No idea if it will help.
Another pc connected to bsnl net runs good at 30kbps dnload-upload speeds. This pc is core2duo.

Please give some ideas if any.
I will think of replacing motherboard and processor.
get motherboard checjked up for chip level probs.

regards

hi friends

I found out three things

1 I sent my motherboard to repair a heatsink that came off the mb.
What I sent was intel 4 board and what I got is local non branded motherboard of samesize.

2. I found my LAN card has limited capacity. just getting it replaced for 200 rupees. A new Lan card.
3. I removed lan card and fixed it it was loose without a screw.

rest i will feedback soon.

Hi

My machine is 5 yrs old.
The pity is during repair,I lost my original Intel motherboard and got a local made motherboard that has no brand.

I did format. no mprovement.
I got Duplicate file remover, removed lot of duplicate files.
a slight improvement took place.
some capacitors on motherboard found swollen.
repair cost 1000/- estimated.
I dont want a non brand, non standard motherboard. Now I purchased a GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARD costing 2000 rupees and
things are normal.

Wow, 5 years in IT world is obsolete. If its giving you so much trouble would it not be better to get a new one.

If you have a 2 GB Ram then your computer should be very good or at least at par.

I have had similar problems with my computer in the past. I soon found out that a very surreptitious virus was a work and eating away my CPU cycles. This was a huge issue for me since I use my computer for trading.

Therefore, I found a permanent solution. I formatted my HDD, installed XP and ONLY the trading software and NOTHING else. All the timepass activity on other computers.

From then on my computer works at prime speed, moreso cuz its only a Celeron and 256 RAM.

In short, format your drive completely. And install XP. Some virus is at work. If you install an anti-virus it will eat up your CPU cycles and RAM in a major way. Just format. Simple.

Better install NOT a free anti-virus kit, buy it.It costs few rupees.
I have Kaspersky, which costed me 900/- for 3 PCs (I do not have
that many) for one year.
