Lost because of fear - Not exactly knowing what I was doing
Lost because of greed - Not exactly knowing what I was doing

A Parable

The cheese-mites asked how the cheese got there,
And warmly debated the matter;
The Orthodox said that it came from the air,
And the Heretics said from the platter.
They argued it long and they argued it strong,
And I hear they are arguing now;
But of all the choice spirits who lived in the cheese,
Not one of them thought of a cow.

Used huge leverage and all available margin without a plan .. made some good gains , used heavy leverage and all available margin again , this time without a care in the world , suffered biig drawdawn & tried to revenge trade and claw it back , all this apart from many other silly mistakes live averaging down , praying for a reversal etc .. this was some time ago , now i know when to step away from the market , have made some mental adjustments , trade within my limit , worked out a basic money management plan and am learning TA and trying to make myself a proper system , i consider what i lost in the market as a kind of guru dakshina if u will , i now know what not to do , and that's worth the money , learn from your mistakes & earn by not repeating them , cheers all , happy trading

In year 2006, i ended with a net loss for the year. i stopped buying/selling for last 6 months of the year. After some gains in the first 3 months, i got so confident that i put goals, like how much i should make in a month and then breaking in to weekly gains, when the weekly gain is not met, i used to sell and try to get to the next hot stock, after not making goals for 2 weeks or rather making some loss, more frustration and more pursuit of hot stocks, to regain lost time and lost money. after a big burn, stopped and later on found that one should only buy and sell as long as he can keep cool.

Never try to regain lost money.
Never try to regain lost time.
Do not forward gains and losses.

Always start with a blank slate.
Leverage only to which position your are comfort without emotion of fear and greed. Over leverage is the mass destruction weapon.
Hold position to the comfort level of the sleeping zone.

Greediness and fear are the TWO best known enemies of the trader/investor. You need not be a WARREN BUFFET to be a successful investor ,just conquer your enemies mentioned earlier.( Though I respect him a lot ).
Dow jones is now at 11 year low. So long term always doesnt pay.
