Trades using Moving averages

This is just a record of my trades based on EOD Moving averages.

This is not even a strategy. I have not even decided which Moving Averages to watch. Every day, I look at various combinations of Moving Averages, and decide my trade on gut feel.

I am no expert trader, and have more losses than profits, but whenever I have traded using trends, moving averages, and options, I have been profitable. Maybe, its just that I have missed the whipsaw days when I traded using these :)

I used to trade with EOD Moving Averages before Dhiraj's 2652 strategy inspired me to day trade. I started using Moving averages again from 9th October.

My trades so far:

October 12
------------
Trade 1: Buy 150 Nifty October Futures @ Rs.4956.40

October 26
------------
Trade 2: Sell 150 Nifty October Futures @ Rs.5010.60
Trade 3: Sell 150 Nifty November Futures @ Rs.5018.60

Current Position
------------------
Short 150 Nifty November Futures

Hi Naresh and Bandlab,

As I said earlier, I do not yet have a well defined strategy, so this might not make much sense.....

I look at many EMAs and SMAs - also 2 MA crossovers & MA envelope crossovers. I do not have rules yet, so even after looking at all the MAs, the final decision is still based on my gut feel.

I am usually busy at market closing, and so trade on market opens instead of close.

I increase and decrease my position based on a %age of the money that is freely available in my bank account. This can go up or down. (Call it money management or risk or whatever)

On November 4, I decided to increase my position, because i got my salary :)
but since the market opened positive (1 EMA ), I bought 50 Nifty Futures. So my total position actually increased from 150 to 200 Nifty Futures . I added a 50 long nifty Futures to my 150 short nifty futures = net result 100 short nifty futures. Convoluted logic?

This may not make much sense, so for the moment just treat this as a trading diary. I believe that any EOD moving average system for Nifty Futures based on a MA > 5 has positive expectancy, and that is why I am trading even without well defined rules.
