Default Re: TRADESTATION -most troublesome thing

Friends,

Tradestation is not available for free. There are no links. There are resellers,of course secret ones.
second thing, if you are a technical novice and dont know much about computer applications, better stay away from tradestation. It is by far one of those tough applications with series of problems right from downloading, updating, connecting and stabilising global server, and the biggest trouble is organising realtime data feed, the cost of which can run into 5000 rupees a month from genuine sources or involves time consuming circumvented procedures. The worst of the problems being neither tradestation people nor data vendors can really help you through to get to live charts in TS. Of course vendor like ESIGNAL can help partially, but not to the extent you reach end of the battle.

One thing is there as exception.
If you have a neighbour or close friend who is currently using tradestation, and who is willing and can spend hours for you to stabilise your setting up things till you complete the task, then you may go for it.
It may take days together.
The worst of the things is
If you are user of pentium 2 pc,old version, not ready to spend money to upgrade to pentium4, not willing to spend time on net or pc more than 5 or 6 hours or more per day, then be one kilometer away-from TS.
USING PC with memory range not less than 100GB, and if you are a user of dial up internet with very low speeds, dont even think of it.
Tradestation involves lots of time spending, spending money, burning midnight hours, sleepless nights, eligibility criterion is having good friends who can spare their time for you, happily.

Hope it is clear
Ready for the battle? ready to spend time, money, buy new stuff, have friends to help out?
Only then think of Tradestation
After all these trouble what you achieve? Day trading capabilities in futures and options.
For stocks, swing trading with amibroker and metastock can do wonders.

Default Tradestation- FAQ's

gENTLEMEN,

I was installing tradestation software for TS2000i.
After initial installtion, I have to install two software update packs sp4 and sp5.

As I install the first one SP4 pack, it goes through till 98% installation and stops there.

The pc gives an alarm,
% s decompression failed. There is not enough space in TEMP directory.

I tried to lacte the temp but cant.
tried removing temporary internet files from internet explorer, via tools, delete files etc.
Nothing worked.
I checked up forums on esignal.
No remedy found,
Ultimately I found the solution from the Blog of RAMESHBABU VELIDI. PROBLEM GOT SOLVED AND I INSTALLED MY UPDATE PACKS WITHIN MINUTES.

all the google,***** searches did not help.
But this blog helped.

Link is here. If you face same problem please visit it.

Popular Stocks Scanner produces the following types of Trading Signals:

Default Problem with ELD files:How to convert them to ELA/ELS

Gentlemen,

First
My thanks to OMKAR for giving the link for resolving TEMP issue.
Actually, everytime I tried locating TEMP directory,I landed up with an empty TEMP directory that showed no contents. Later on I found an empty Temp DIRECTORY WAS CREATED by my pc serviceman, which complicated the issue of finding hidden files to be deleted. It is there the Run,procedure
solved the prob in 3 steps-search,locate,delete after checking if the file to be deleted not to belong to system.
---------------------
I have another problem
My tradestation 2000i system does not recognise ELD file with formulae.
It knows only ELS or ELA file and can import only these.
If I have ELD file how to convert it to ELA or ELS to apply the formula?
-------------------------------------
For example
MarketGauge gives free indicators like below but the files are in ELD format.
ref link

Default Re: Problem with ELD files:How to convert them to ELA/ELS

Hi

ELD is not 2000i format.
I don't know the direct solution, like any converter available.

But the TS2000i website says u can install 8.2 (advanced tech) on same machine with 2000i (for old addons & global server dependants)

Default Re: Problem with ELD files:How to convert them to ELA/ELS

you can only open eld files with ts8.xx
not possible with ts2ki and there is no converter.

maybe you will find a kind soul who transfers for you but then you have to know easylanguage because there are differences in some of the commands. and this can't be recognized by ts2k.
