For last 200 years, stock markets have gone only in one direction- UP

So, thats the super long term trend. If World GDP grows, stock market rises except crappy recession.

Finding trend in day trade is an intuiton. Trading is an intuiton business.

After you have spend few months/years looking at price action, an inner voice will guide you regarding the trend.

Slope of a moving average will help, the parameter depends on the strategy you use. Combined with macd histogram, if both the MA and MACD-H are in the same direction, it is presumed that the market is trending in that direction and the trend is strong too.
