Default Questions About BSE securities Groups

Hi,

Can somebody throw light on how the different groups of shares in BSE made ? I have come across various lists like BSE100, BSE200, BSE 'A' Group, B1 group, B2 group etc. How are the different shares classified into these groups ? what is the significance of a group membership on purchase / selling of a share ? Is it possible to list all the groups with their signficance (no need to list the shares in each group) ?

Thanks in advance.
