Please read 'Come into my trading room' by Dr Alexander Elder.... in my view its enough to make a good start. Easy to read and understand....less jargons and easy on eyes.

TO START WITH T.A. READ -
1. TECHNICAL ANALYSIS FROM A TO Z- STEVEN B. ACHELIS
2. THE TECHNICAL ANALYSIS COURSE - MEYERS.

THESE R EASY, COVERS ALMOST EVERYTHING ABT T.A., & CHEAP INDIAN VERSIONS AVLBL IN THE MARKET. AFTER U'VE READ THEM, WRITE TO ME IF U NEED TO GO FURTHER. I STARTED WITH THEM. ALL THE BEST.

I would not encourage to spend money on any book for starting... As far as first step into the world of trading is concerned, below mentioned threads are way more than enuf for anybody who is below rating of 3-4 on scale of 10.....

1> "Teach a man to fish..." by Saint
2> "Trading Strategies...." by Raunak

Trust me, one shud save money spent on beginners level book and use them for experiement on his/her trading style and accordingly buy book suitable to his/her style...

For mediocre to advance level, I wud suggest below mentioned books.... these are my personal fav, may not be suitable to you....

1> New market timing techniques... by Thomas Demark
2> Candlestick charting explained... by Greg Morris
3> Complete RSI book... John Hayden

Whatever you read, whatever you learn but dont forget that money is not made with learning 100 techniques/systems/methods... money is made through practicing one single method 100 times and getting expertise on it....

Being in USA, I have purchased and read lots of books and attended many seminars as well as watched many DVDs pertaining to trading.... nothing works unless u master one or two methods...

3) Book 3 is for Importance of Candlestick for studying price action
4) Book 4 is Advanced book on Technical analysis which will help you make your own system
