Point and Figure Chart Excel Sheet

I would blame it to yahoo servers as if you see the data sheet they are giving data only uptil 13th oct and does not include the price of 14th oct's move. see the data sheet and see the maximum price you can see in there... ie. 549.4 as shown on the chart. :)

I dont know why Yahoo is not updated yet... but you can put the high, low of yesterday in the bottom of the price list and it will update the chart

Findvikas,

First of all i would like to appreciate the Sincere effort.

Works fine for me with Excel 2003.

But i find it little difficult with the chart pattern link.

It would be better, if some realtime examples are taken and dealt with.

For example consider TATASTEEL (Attached its image)

LTP is 571 and the chart has the maximum value at 549.

Why is it so.. how to intrpret it with the actual price movements.

Arvind

as expected TATASTEEL bounced like anything... it breaked the previous resistance around 545 and opened above that at 549.. I think it will give up some of its gain today and retest 560 or odd levels ... I would most likely buy 560PE today for intraday.

there are three kinds of Boxes...

Traditional box scaling preloads box sizes historically used for that particular price range. The reversal amount starts at 2, but can be adjusted dynamically.

Percentage box scaling increases the box size by a constant percentage (1%) every time the price rises above the current box.

User-defined box scaling allows you to control both the box size and the reversal amount. Making either variable larger filters out more data. The challenge, then, is to find a balance that shows enough detail without showing too much. For beginners, switching between the three modes will help you get a feel for how the variables affect the chart's appearance.

I am using the last one to begin with and soon should add other two types as well.... stay tuned...

Thanks for reporting this issue to me

I have made changes to the sheet to fix the bug which was not allowing Excel 2003 users to use the sheet... to my wonder either we all are UP TO DATE or people just avoided using the sheet and not reported it to me ... :)

I have also updated sheet to automatically calculate 1% as box size and 3% as reversal size, if you want to change this default value you can go to code and change the values of constants in the TOP of macro.

Const BoxSizePercentage = 1
Const ReversalPercentage = 3

I calculate the average price of the scrip in the given time frame and calculate the box & reversal in % of the average price

Please do let me know if that helps.
Dear vikas,
Can you explain the bold part...how we do it?step by step please.....

Since most people are new to PnF, why cant we put the charts along with the reason for its buy or sell signal.

Let us do this for sometime till everyone gets used to it.

How about his idea FindVikas?

Let me know if i can assist you on this.. But i too dont know about PnF. :)

Once again.. thanks for starting this thread...
