How to learn formula language

Hi all,

I am a commerce student and I have been into tech analysis couple of years ago. I am well ok with patterns, candle sticks, bars, indicators etc etc.

Here i see many people discussing about formulae's and similar stuff.
what are the things i should know in order to write down my own formulae in amibroker or any other ta software. Like i have a set of parameters and now i need to put it in a ta software, what is the knowledge required ? Programming skills ? If yes what kind of programming and where i can learn it?
