The Tick Indicator

#1
The tick indicator is a powerful indicator for confirming market direction. The tick is simply a formula for measuring how many stocks are rising versus how many are declining.

I know the tick is popular in the US and it measures NYSE and NASDAQ.

But I'm day trading locally and I wonder if there is a site/service that measures TICK locally?

I'm using Amibroker and my max symbols from my data feed is 200 symbols. I don't think I can calculate the tick with just 200 symbols?

Thanks in advance!

You can create the TICKI for NIFTY-50 stocks.

Dear sir,,

Will you please tell us how to create tick indicator for nifty or where we can get the indicator -downlooad version for metastock/ambibroker pls help
From how it has been described in post 1, I think the tick indicator is just another name for "Market Breadth" or ratio of Advances:Declines:Stationary

No Bunny, TICK indicator is very different from accumlation distribution indicator.
AD indicators looks at the CMP with respect to yesterdays close and counts it in Accumulation or distribution.

TICK looks at latest trade and compares it to prev trade (which is few microseconds before) and counts them as advancing or declining. It is like, counting how many stocks were traded last at BID/BUY price.. i.e. sellers are dumping stocks at whatever price buyers are read to buy at. (say we have 100 stocks in mkt, and 39 were traded at BID)
And how many are traded at ASK/SELL price given by seller indicating buyers are crazy and they want to buy at whatever price someone is ready to sell. (in above case this number will be 61).
So TICK will be 61-39 = 22. This number will vary from +(total stock traded on exchange) to -(total stocks on exchange).

Generally, people use MA/ % etc on this and use it for trading.

This is one of the fastest indicator with microsecond of lag, that u can get.
Imagine the kind of edge that it can give u in daytrading when all others are following 1min or bigger timeframe, whereas u r running on microsecond timeframe. Even if use 1000tick MA there, u will be far ahead of other daytraders.

Thats what algorithmic trading software of hedgefunds use and flood the market with orders.

Happy Trading
