Hi ARMHM,
These all are 5 min charts but the formation is also common in 15 min and hourly bars. |

Out of many things that i have learnt in the market, this is one! This actually helps in choosing trades.
Their are a number of times when the market moves as anticipated but take our stops before doing so...... specially when we trade those breakouts of "known by everyone supports and resistances" The breakouts which are less noisier and attractive offer much higher chances of winning. These are breakouts out of small ranges and consolidations, the ranges that are formed when the price stabilizes after the morning rush. The ranges can be identified by series of inside bars or NR4, the shrinking sizes of the candles and the closing of inside bars coming closer and closer. Below is the example of indiabulls( on 04.06.08 ) Continously making new ranges and breaking them in downtrend. The candles that are breaking the range are themselves defining the intensity of breakdown : 1. They are closing at the bottom and are perfect looking. 2. They are not attracting any unusual volumes and that is also favourable ie: the demand at the lower prices is soft. http://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ibullsmh0.png http://img174.imageshack.us/my.php?i...iabullswk2.png

Just a thought that the highest volume day on nifty was first day of november.
If you look closely........... doesn't it look like a rejection from 6000 level. nifty touched the all time high of 6012 and was smacked back in to close in red at 5866. After this day, nifty was giving weak signals too. the red candles were bigger and cracking and no enthusiastic buying was emerging which is hinted by the muted volumes. I had realized these hints before the crash but the way market was going up, i thought it was never going to come down........to be honest you people check it out and tell me......

A: When i mention thrust, i mean this. look at the momentum and shapes of those candles....
B: This is consolidation, i call them crackers( shaved from both upside and downside- specially upside, suggesting, more weight from above then below ) This formation usually works all the time, if you can understand the psychology in them.
