If you answered truthfully 'yes' to each question then congratulations
you have a truly mechanical system - now you've got to make sure it makes
money - that bit is up to you.

Hope this helps some out there who are struggling away. Know that there
is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it's a bloody long tunnel!
see you at the light end.
Wow.... you have defined the scope of mechanical trading system very well here.... that gives some inputs... For me, I am yet to spot where the tunnel is ... lots of tunnels here each crossing one-another. While happy on seeing ray of light at the end of one tunnel, we go despair to realise that this is the start of another tunnel... Hope to see daylight after a series of tunnels which lasts quite long before I die....

Abhay

Abhay,

The proff of the pudding is in Eating .No matter what ,only after eating we can come to a conclusion about the delicacies status.Hence let us do it in Mkt .Eventually Mkt will tell us which tunnel leads to where.

I traded a mechanical system for 4 years. We traded only Nifty futures... its made money hand over fist, including being short on days when the Nifty was limit down... of course with our own adrenalin rushes, we went against the model a couple of times, and lost big. Since then we decided we would leave the trading room when our emotions threatened to get the better of us.

i have rad almost all the posts regarding tech analysis & they have helped me..but wht i found out was that people here cum & boast & tlk of tading systems & when they are asked to throw sum light they prefer keeping quiet.guys,if u are so selfish then it wud b better if u do not talk abt tradin systems altogether.it wud be best if u wud keep these big mouth of urs shut...& let me tell u sumthing...u people are not bigger than L & T & BEAR STERNS...big time companies getting washed out.this only shows tht black box system or a mech tradin system has falied.u have to use ur brain to earn from stock markets..& thts the basic rule.
every mech system or a black box wll fail..why??? bcos the future cant be predicted.if it cud have been predicted then u wud not find a buyer & a seller & no markets wud exist.an u exactly predict whether u will live or die 2mrw.no, u cant...
& for those people who doesnt want to talk abt their traing systems, u dont have to ,but pls dnt cum & boast here tht u have a very profitable system & u r generating huge profits....
HOW MANY TRADERS HERE HAVE BOUGHT A MERCEDES BENZ WITH THE MONEY EARNED FROM STOCK MARKETS.I REALLY WUD LIKE TO KNOW.

Few questions

1. You are upset that people with successful mechanical systems do not talk about their systems in public? So the next question would be, do successful discretionary traders talk about their methods in public? If so, where?

2. Arent Bear Stearns an investment bank, maybe they do program trading too but are they the benchmark for all mechanical trading activities?

3. Mechanical trading systems do not require brains? They develop themselves?

4. Do 'Predicting' and 'Forecasting" mean the same thing?

5. So you cant predict whether you will live or die tomorrow? Do you carry a coffin in your trunk? Or you advise everyone to do so?

6. Why Mercedes Benz? Why not BMW?

Strong words for someone with who is only here to 'read'.... you have anything to share about trading systems? And what has L&T got to do with anything?? And black boxes need not only be predictive, they can also be reactive...

Most importantly, people 'come' to this forum, not 'cum' to this forum.
