apinunw,

Welcome to the forum, the Weak Hand & Strong Hand is a term used by Analysts.
It has more to do with Investor/Trader's Time-Frame .If Stop Loss is Hit both Weak & Strong will Liquidate there positions.
The term used by mostly TV Analyst like...... Strong Hand replacing Weak hand ....is more to do with Institutional Money replacing Retailers money.

Asish

If you have access to level II data specifically order book (not in INdia) you can get a fair idea. Well the book is manipulated too! dont forget that.

The manipulation is a bit pedestrian if you ask me. Too predictable

not really prdictable anymore. large orders are disguised thru several small orders and circular trades. sometimes a large size is shown at the disadvantage of day traders (to make them panick and liquidate). classic eg. are BIDU,HANS,JPM,MA etc.

but still better helpful to recognize patterns of buying/selling than the nse order book.

Gone were the days that the institutions and mutual funds considered to be strong and retailers as weak hands. It is the otherway now.

It makes a lot sense now a days to me.

I think weak hands panic and sell or react fast to any negative news
where as strong hands hold their investments for long term expecting 10-15% returns. They have capacity to absorb short term negatives and even lossess if needed.

Retail investors pie has been increasing into equity but I don't know how strong they as the stregth is a measure of capacity of absorbing loss and holding for long term.
