I compiled the SMART breakouts for 3 months from 16/08/2007 to 16/11/2007.
I have not checked the current price of these stocks. There are 624 breakouts. You will notice that the same set of stocks are breaking out again and again. Strategies based on relative strength and momentum works. I have attached the file in excel format Download |

Here is the Relative performance of Watch list over the last 6 trading days.
Nifty fell around 7 %. Keep a watch on the ones showing strength. They are likely to shoot up on market bounce. Last edited by SMART_Trader; 15th January 2008 at 07:51 PM. |

The trick is to enter these stocks on a 4% plus breakout after a consolidation. if the entry is successful, we can catch the start of a new uptrend. So we are looking for yearly growth of 100% plus , 10 to 20 day weakness or consolidation, and a 4% plus high volume breakout.
Dear SMART Trader, ![]() Your analysis seems to be superb! In tomorrow's watch list, you include BANKINDIA. On what price should one enter this scrip? Is it @360 ? (347x1.04) or just above 347? Awaiting your response Regards Reji

Dear Reji
Nothing special about 4% . the idea is to enter a significant single day up move. This is to ensure that there is still steam left even after making a 100%+ move. Probability of a reversal in such scrips are less. Trade the concept and remember trading is purely a probability game. Personally I won't prefer Bank of India for swing trading. Look What happened after recent breakouts. Last edited by SMART_Trader; 15th January 2008 at 07:51 PM. |
