Hello again

This is what i had planned to do, I would be trading ID with 1 lot of NFs. The margin is around 30K, I have an account funded with 60k.

I mentally divide this money into 4 parts, 30 k is required for Margin not available for P/L, rest 30K divide into 3 i.e 10K each for 3 rounds of trading.

In effect planed to risk only 10k (at a time).

Now the issues, even with 50 shares of NF, to blow up a 10 K account is no big deal, seems markets are just designed for that.

I may change this brkup, but before all that there are lots of things i need to put in place, like my setup needs to be modified, need backup etc, the charts also.

Also while writing the Plan Document came across some more issues with risk/money management, need to work more on that, till such time will keep doing Paper Trading

Maybe when I reach your stage of expertise/knowledge, will understand have wasted my time doing paper trading, but thats the easy way for me. Needing to fund the account again will be harder.

Thanks
nb

i also once said that i am going for a quest. a 20 day gap in just studying, thinking and analyzing has completely changed the way I look at the mkt.

earlier i used to spend hours on traderji on chat, posts, arguing, debating. now i look at it as entertainment/boredom killer in between the signals generated by my systems.

why am i writing this? To add more drama of course and get entertained. No wonder some Englishman said "All the world's a stage"!

I feel very tensed even when my paper trades go against me BAV!!!
Err...Seems like why this happens!!! Always taking paper trades with the spirit of real trades!!! Even apply stoploss for them!!! And trailing profit stops...

I think by doing paper trades I actually forgot my real account today(I now have a trading Account : proud : (though no emoticon for it) )!!!

Some people are having emotions about win or loss, be it money, honey or virtual money!!!

I dont recommend paper trades for a long period, but paper trades do help if, if we are doing it with a respect and by doing true to oneself!

Geez... Not a recommendation...Who am this newbie to recommend!!!
Just the random muse of an avid paper trader!!!

Hello kuriako

Thanks for posting, Been through your thread, need to confess, did not understand much.

I am learning to trade by trying to understand price action, using Saints trend following method on ID TFs. Don't know anything about writing programs, indicators or automated systems. You seem to designing new age TA stuff, I am impressed.

Except for paper trading nothing seems to be common in our approach. : )

Do keep posting on this thread, at times I seem to be talking to myself by having 5-10 posts in a row. But thankfully been good this week, already lots of interaction, interesting and also entertaining. : )

Thanks for using only 3 emoticons
Leaves out space for 1 more form me

Non standard : proud : emoticon... So all four taken!!!

No chance!!!

I am right now going through your thread!!! Ur charts seems to be .Cant you make it some more "sexy". Though I am not here for "unplugging", the chart will look nice and somewhat readable if the color combinations are good.

I may be feeling this as I am a newbie. Could be also that I am after trivial things!!! Sorry for that!

All four emoticons taken!!! : smile :

BTW newbee... DO you love honeybee???

what is the value of paper trades when no money is involved and your emotions aren't eating you out?

I want opinion from people who have papertraded extensively & then applied their learnings with real money, although i am doing it other way i.e. first loosing real money & then doing paper trading.
For me papertrading can be as tortorous as real one infact today was such a day when i incurred losses. All veterans advise for doing trades in paper first so what do experienced ppl think. Did trading real made aftre doin paper trades make any difference?

PS: Were those ES trades done realtime.
