Dear ss,
Oilman's idea is an excellent one can you post these charts for the last two years so we may see the characterisitics during the crashes in 2005 and mid 2006? In this context I should also like to add an indicator called the "Titanic syndrome" I read about it in Gary B. Smith's book. He says its very accurate in fortelling market tops (can not be applied to bottoms though). Its was developed by Bill Ohama in 1965, and has since predicted many market tops including that of 1987. Its quite simple really You are aboard the Titanic when:- 1. The DJIA hits a new high for the year, or 2. rallies 400 points or more, and 3. within seven days, before or after this high, 4. the number of NYSE new 52 week lows exceeds the number of 52 new highs. That's it. Wondering if it can be modified and applied to the nifty. More details here http://www.tradertalk.com/tutorial/titanic.html |

Hi Marcus,
That was interesting! Unfortunately I lost all data because of hard disk crash, so can't show the charts for the earlier periods, and now I am maintaining a hard copy (everyday I write down the internals data in a scrap book!) as well as a back up of my hard disk. Some people learn the hard way. ![]() Thanks, ss |

Here is a chart of A/D from January 2, 2006 till August 9, 2007, as requested by Oilman. The data for this is from NSE site. As usual, the blue line is the smoothed A/D ratio - ( Add 10 days advancing, divide by 10, add 10 days declining, divide by 10 and then arrive at A/D ). Note the negative divergences between the Nifty and A/D at major tops.
