Charts updated till today, Sept 21, 2007.

Our A/D is bad and now there are more stocks making 20 day lows.

Next week is a decider for sure. The A/d must come up or we are gonna tank.

Regards all,

ss

PS - Please note - All my charts use NSE data. BSE A/D screen shot is for comparison.

hi A very powerful point. Are the market makers getting out at higher levels as they know the dollar is going to Rs 36 or so?Past excesses have to be paid for --- the market insures it.

This is for some of you who may wonder how can a ratio like A/D be negative. The formulae used is like this -

(Total of advancing stocks for 10 days / Total of declining stocks for 10 days) minus 1 , and the result is multiplied by 100. Please refer Martin Pring on Market Momentum.

Hi sunil,

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to ask & clear more doubts and questions.

1) A. In the Net inflow chart do the 8 & 21 SMA’s of the blue line are used only to smooth and remove the noise of the net inflow line and to find a more clearer trend of net inflow. Or it has to do something with crossover of the 8&21 SMA. Please let me know about this.

B. Why are you using such short period SMA’s?

2) What is the use of the trigger line in the 10 day advance decline ratio?

With regards,

Learningcurve

Hi lc,

A. You are correct. SMA's are used to remove the noise. The crossovers can be used to generate possible entry/exits ie say a long term or an intermediate term investor can synchronize his exposure accordingly. I am working on a much larger data, but to download the data from SEBI, clean up, then throwing the data into Excel is a chore! Also,in a short time I will have Amibroker, then I will have some fun.

B. One reason for using short term SMA's is that my data for FII/MF is only from January this year, and the data for A/D, AB50, and 20 DHL, is from June this year.

Oh, forgot about the A/D trigger line. Again, can be used for entry exits for traders, but needs a lot of trimming and experiments. Again data is too sparse right now. Maybe by next year, we will know how to use this, and with our seniors here who have expertise in coding etc, I don't have any doubts, that some day we will be able to put this in good use.

Regards,

ss

Sectoral Comparison - Here is a table which compares the highest closing of different indices in BSE, in July 2007, with the closing on Friday, Sept 21, 2007. After all this fire work, Sensex has gained 6.4% over its July high! Oil and Gas is the leader, while IT and Health Care, remain under pressure.
