all your comments are welcome.
Dear BAV

Could you tell if your proprietary calculations have any similarity to Profitunity Windows and also could you please give the link to CV'S blog

lol .... asishda,

its not about the winning trades. its about the end result. here ppl are popping up individual trades (winning ofcourse) now and then. but never the complete story.

p.s. - you and i seems to have a common thing about that Dumb Fool issue

A question about a common indicator :-

The TIME SERIES FORECAST - it's pre-packaged in most TA s/w-s. But what i want to clarify is the method of calculation.

As far as my understanding goes the TSF plots the end-points of a linear reg trendline and adds the linear reg slope to it. So apparently if i want to cut out the slope and just plot the linear reg endpoints all i have to do is subtract the LinRegSlope from the TSF. But i'm a bit confused by the mention at most websites (including Paritech which gives the builds of MS indicators) that the TSF indicator plots the ending values of multiple Linear Regression trendlines, whereas what i want is the end-points for just the specified period (i.e. single not multiple).

Requesting knowledgeable members to throw some light on the same.

Regards,
Kalyan.

Another one whose method of calculation i'd like to know :-

The RANDOM WALK INDEX - in-built in Ami 4.9. It uses a Min Period (default-9) and Max Period (default-40). The RWI in Ami is calculated from a RWI of High & a RWI of Low.

I'd like to know how exactly are these MIN & MAX periods used in the calculation.

Regards,
Kalyan.

Also soliciting your valued opinion on the following unconventional form of the Beta :-

The formula :
MyBeta = R-Squared * (n-period StdDev of stk)/(n-period StdDev of Index/Reference)

Too simple for comfort perhaps but the good thing about it is that the R2 is incorporated in the formula itself and do not need to be referenced separately.

Historical Volatality can also be used instead of plain-jane Std Dev and perhaps even the RWI (but apprehensive of using the latter as do not fully understand the construction).

Regards,
Kalyan.

Oh no, dear Saint I'm pretty much a Dumb Fool myself. (Fortunate to be in a 'dumb fool' mkt where the proverbial tide raises all boats) Don't quite gather as much as i grope. Just trying to ensure that if & when i fail, my self cannot accuse me of not having tried hard enough (and also learning about humility from the likes of yourself & Asishda. Traders need to be humble, right? ).

Regards,
Kalyan.
