Had the pleasure of attending Larry Seminar in Delhi. Yes - he does stress on Relative Strength BUT relative to what - that is different for different stocks and commodities.

In fact concept of oversold and overbought applies here too - so satyam could have been a buy at lower levels with of course a proper breakout entry method

Here we compare HDFC Bank and SBIN. To calculate the relative strength, we divide HDFC price by SBIN price, and this ratio is plotted against SBIN. Here is a good article on Pairs Trading. http://www.investopedia.com/articles.../04/090804.asp

I am keeping this simple but will experiment with sigma- standard deviation.
