And who knows, may be Montecarlo and martingles(or anti) are waiting alongwith the idea of 'flawed methods' but 'proper money management' to start........ slow poisioning is what I call it.
Joy,you will do well to start with the SAINT thread - "Teach a man to fish and......" in the subforum called 'Trading on technicals'......then start with a software to practise theories......then go on with your studies ranging from Larrys to Nisons to Tharps to Demarks to Guppys to Ehlers...then learning to programm the formulas of innovative ideas and backtesting them.....this is the surest path to earning from stock market.....go to this thread now...... http://www.traderji.com/trading-tech...-man-fish.html and be aware of the 'flawed' ideas...

Why would you need anything besides the 2 you have mentioned above ?. All other indicators are derivatives of these.

joy433,

Can't say whether u r posing to be New ,assuming u to be new in trading arena there is no way u can jump to post graduation until you complete the graduation part.Hence heed HariOm ,& Vince is directing you to Price & volume solely Now.Understand the basic indicators ,the effect on charts, minimum umpteen nos. until that is set in memory, then go thru the mathametical parts of how these indicators are built.
Until these tasks are completed, dont jump to Derivatives of Price. All advocates of Derivatives will say it is only few weeks within which u learn trading ,becoz the result is like a coin toss ,that is chances are random.Hence no point in learning/wasting time in these indicators, straight way go to Money mgmt/Risk Mgmt.
They have a valid point , but all thse guys have gone thru the 1st yr & ragging part themselves.
As i am dumb it is a tendency i assume every body is dumb like me,hence i suggest go thru all basic indicators ,candle stick etc.
Try trading with 1 or 2 no shares ,get the feel of softwares & rules, then before plunging throughly ,understand the Money & Risk mgmt.
Then only you are somewhat prepeared for this uncertain 'Gupt' arena.
No short cut.Plz remember it is your money ,not mine or ours.
Asish

Hmm "Gupt" . I like the way you put it. And you are certainly not dumb Ashish.

Just to illustrate what I meant , here are 2 charts . Which one would you have preferred to trade. Did you need indicators to come to that desicion?

abtl for range traders

the other one for trend traders

but all this is possible only looking at the chart on the left side....

when at hard right edge, we can sometimes never make head or tails wether the scrip is trending or in a trading range
