On the lighter side, market sentiments are all around you! When was the last time your mother in law suggested you to buy a stock! That is the best indicator! Also see the adverts in the media, if there are are too many of them asking you to take a dip in the big sea of the markets, sell and run!

On a serious note, Advance-Decline will give you some idea. Moreover, if you are a day trader, who cares for market sentiment?

Cheers!

Hi,
The careless Daytraders are rare species ,they extinguish very fast .that is my personal experience since 4.5yrs.Rather Day traders who have survived are only those who do a lot of home work.Between 9.56 to 3.30 What i have heard that (a careless attitude brews impulse)& "Impulse" in trader's parley is the name of some kind of a wave & nothing else.

even tho i wanted to answer this as soon as i saw this, i wanted some exp day trader to correct this as it would carry more weight. no other than CV!
use AD, Put-Call ratio, 52weeks Hi-Lo, bullish % (difficult in india) etc. remember, like all indis this is no magic...it may take quite some time b4 mkt actually turns...just keep ur eyes open and be prepared..
altho not a sentidex, Relative Strength, particulaly sector wise can achieve similar thing much better.

Hi
Even though I remember skimming through Bernsteins book, I dont remember seeing the mentioned indicator.

My suggestion is to watch the raw no.s first and then adjust it to create your own indicator.

ADR at Market Opening
TICK during pullbacks
VOLD = Advancing Vol - Declining Vol
TRIN is useful
Watch participation levels in Options market intraday to gauge sentiment and institutional activity.

You will need a reliable data feed to get this data though.

Hope that helps
