Nice explanation Ashish.

Now, one wont get confused over identifying whether its Pennant or Symm. Triangle.

Hi Ashish

I am a beginner studying chart patterns
I just went through your blogspot really great site.

I have attached a Chart of Silverline Tech… Head & Shoulder Top has formed with confirmation.
According to me there is also a pullback (a chance for the one who want to sell)

Target is around 10.5 to 11.00.

Am I right?
Plz. Suggest. What are your views?

Regards,
Luckytrader

Hi Dabs!

Thanks for your words of appreciation!
IMHO, with all the major world markets incl. indian markets completing a double bottom, the long-term views are intact. It's also supported by the fact that weekly charts did not make any lower high.
However, if NIFTY closes below 3550, in the mid-term we may be witness more bearishness.

Best Regards,

Hi Lucky trader!
Thanks for your kind words about the blog.
NIce identification of H&S top.

However, I have a doubt about pullback. Earlier when price was rising towards the neck line, the volume was low and there were chances that the rally is just a pullback. However, after the prices have crossed neck-line, the volume has gone up and hence the pull-back is doubtful now.

However, if stock closes below the neck line, the pullback will be confimed and one can short the stock with SL at previous pivotal high.

One should however be cautious and if silverline makes a higher pivotal low, profit should be booked without waiting for stop-loss being hit.

Best REgards,

The beauty of patterns is that they provide a visual & lively representation of the evergoing fight between different market participants.

Coupled with the ability to forecast precise Entry, Target & Stop-loss points, chart patterns give a technical trader the proverbial edge.

As this discipline of pattern trading is my favourite area in Technical Trading, I want to share the fruits of my labour with fellow boarders and hence I am starting this thread. I would be posting the links of various patterns which are either in the process of forming a pattern or which have broke out of the pattern. The Entry,Stop Loss & Targets will be given after the breakout. I will also try to provide option strategies for the patterns.

At the moment, the analysis will cover only NSE stocks but my targets are to expand the area to International & Other Financial Markets to the extent permitted by my schedule.

To start with, the following patterns have been listed on my blog http://tradingtalks.blogspot.com.

1. Breakouts:

Sl. No.---Stock---Pattern
1. ---CMC --- Flag
2. ---SIL --- Double Top
3. ---Pratibha ---Triangle
4. ---ICSA---Double Bottom
5. ---ANSALHSG---Triangle

2. Breakout Candidates:

Sl. No.---Stock---Pattern

1. ---LT --- Triangle
2. ---Provogue --- Triangle
3. ---Primesecu --- Diamond
4. ---Finantech --- Head & Shoulder
5. ---SIEMENS --- Triangle

You all are welcome to comment, discuss and correct.

Best Regards,
--Ashish

Market timing to switch in asset classes by Mebane T. Faber

The system is as follows:
BUY RULE
Buy when monthly price > 10-month SMA.
SELL RULE
Sell and move to cash when monthly price < 10-month SMA.
1. All entry and exit prices are on the day of the signal at the close.
2. All data series are total return series including dividends, updated monthly.
3. Cash returns are estimated with 90-day commercial paper, and margin rates.
4. Taxes, commissions, and slippage are excluded

SMA - Simple moving average.

What is your comment on this? you may also like to give Buy-Hold-Sell recos alongwith the pattern as this may more useful to forum visitors like me.
